Product Data: Provide data on metal types, finishes, characteristics, and installation
recommendations.
D.
Submit two samples 1000 x 1000 mm in size illustrating metal roofing mounted on plywood
backing illustrating typical seam, external corner, internal corner, valley, ridge and junction to
vertical dissimilar surface, fixings, material, and finish.
E.
Submit two samples 300 x 300 mm in size illustrating metal finish and color.
1.05
QUALITY ASSURANCE
A.
Perform work in accordance with SMACNA Architectural Sheet Metal Manual and standard
details, except as otherwise noted.
B.
Maintain one copy of each document on site.
C.
Fabricator and Installer Qualifications: Company specializing in sheet metal roof installations
with minimum 5 years documented experience.
1.06
MOCK-UP
A.
Comply with Section 01400.
B.
Construct mockup of sheet metal roofing, 3 x 3 m wide, including associated attachments,
flashings, joints and junctions, control or expansion joints, terminating items, eave protection,
and fixings.
C.
Locate where directed.
D.
Mockup may not remain as part of the work.
1.07
PRE-INSTALLATION MEETING
A.
Comply with Section 01039.
B.
Convene two weeks before starting work of this Section.
1.08
DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND PROTECTION
A.
Comply with Section 01600.
B.
Stack material to prevent twisting, bending, or abrasion, and to provide ventilation. Slope metal
sheets shall ensure drainage.
C.
Prevent contact with materials which may cause discoloration or staining.
1.09
COORDINATION
A.
Comply with Section 01039 and 01041.
B.
Coordinate with the work of other Sections.
1.10
WARRANTY
A.
Comply with Section 01740.
B.
Correct defective work within 1 year period after date of Substantial Completion. Defective
work includes degradation of metal finish, failure of water-tightness or seals and any other
defects to the installation and materials.

PRODUCTS
2.01
ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS
A.
Sheet Metal Roofing and Accessories:
1. Refer Appendix ‘A’.
2. Substitutions: Under the provisions of Section 01630.
2.02
MATERIALS (Based on “KAZIP” product, manufactured by “CORUS”)
A.
Aluminium prefinished continuous width and 50 mm standing seam – PVDF coating finish,
color as per Architect on site.
B.
Aluminium “Secret Fix” clip, as per manufacturer standard.
C.
Aluminium fixing rail, as per manufacturer.
D.
Insulation: High density rockwool insulation with highly compressed surface in accordance with
DiN EN 13162.
1. Application type: WD in accordance with 18165 Euro class A1 in accordance with DiN EN
13501 – non comustible.
2. Thermal conductivity group (WLG) 040.
3. Thickness: As shown on drawings.
E.
Trapezoidal Liner sheets:
1. Galvanized steel 1.25 mm thick by 44 mm depth.
F.
Accessories:
1.
Concealed Hook and Keeper Strips: 0.9 mm galvanized steel unless otherwise indicated.
2.
Underlayment: Asphalt saturated roofing felt conforming to ASTM D 226 or D 2178,
No. 15 or as recommended by system manufacturer.
3.
Nails, Screws, Bolts, Expansion Shields, and other Fastenings: Compatible materials
recommended by Sheet Metal manufacturer for intended use:
a.
Provide types, gauges, and lengths to suit installation conditions.
b.
Finish of exposed surfaces: Prefinished to match prefinished sheet metal.
c.
Nails: 3.5 mm or larger, needle point.
d.
Use screws through neoprene washers for all exposed fasteners.
e.
Use toothed steel or lead expansion inserts when anchoring to concrete or masonry
work.
4.
Bituminous Paint: An acid and alkali resistant type, black in color.
5.
Solder: 50% tin solder conforming to ASTM B 32.
6.
Flux: Commercial soldering flux.
7.
Bituminous Plastic Cement: ASTM D 4586, Type I, II.

Fabrication for Sheet Metal Roofing:

Form and fabricate sheets, seams, strips, cleats, valleys, ridges, edge treatments, integral
flashings and other components of metal roofing to the profiles, patterns, and drainage
arrangements indicated on the Drawings to provide permanent leakproof construction.

Fabricate exposed items of prefinished sheet Aluminium.
b.
Provide for thermal expansion and contraction of the work.
c.
Seal joints to achieve leakproof construction.
Shop fabricate materials to the extent possible.

PART 3:
3.01
"Main Works Package"
Issued for Construction: June, 2014
Lock and solder intermediate joints of units. Use flux specified, or use acid flux for
pretinning and rosin flux for joining metal. Remove acid flux residue by
neutralizing and scrubbing with ammonia or washing soda solution. Rinse with
clean water or as recommended by the manufacturer.
Back paint concealed metal surfaces with protective backing paint to dry film thickness
not less than 0.4 mm.
EXECUTION
EXAMINATION
A.
Inspect roof deck to verify deck is clean and smooth, free of depressions, waves, or projections,
properly sloped to drains, valleys and eaves.
B.
Verify deck is dry and clean. Verify joints in wood deck are solidly supported and fastened.
C.
Verify correct placement of wood nailers and insulation positioning between nailers.
D.
Verify roof openings, curbs, pipes, sleeves, ducts, or vents through roof are solidly set, reglets
are in place, and nailing strips located.
E.
Verify roofing termination and base flashings are in place, sealed, and secure.
3.02
PREPARATION
A.
Install starter and edge strips, and cleats before starting installation.
B.
Install surface mounted reglets true to lines and levels. Seal top of reglets with sealant.
C.
Back paint concealed metal surfaces and surfaces in contact with dissimilar metals with
protective backing paint to a minimum dry film thickness of 0.4 mm.
3.03
INSTALLATION
A.
Install sheet Aluminium roofing in compliance with roof system manufacturer’s instructions and
as recommended by SMACNA Architectural Sheet Metal Manual.
B.
Notch corners. Mallet and thoroughly sweat seams full with solder. Complete soldering the
same day roofing is installed.
C.
Install beads, corners, valleys, ridges, and drips in a continuous manner to maintain a watertight
system.
