BRIEFING NOTE
To: Supervising Attorney - J. Sullivan. Our Firm.
From: Paralegal – Mitzy Sandino
Date: February 14, 2020.
RE: Failure to Properly Supervise
_____________________________________________________________________________
Background: In the case xxx v xxx the assigned lawyer Mr.xxx did not fulfill the duty of
supervising the work. This resulted in the loss of the case under his responsibility, since the
paralegal makes certain mistakes that could have been avoided if the lawyer in question would
have gathered and reviewed all the material before being presented in court.
It is an obligation of the lawyer to supervise the work of a paralegal and any other member of the
firm, so as not to incur the breach of his duty. Upon successful completion of the procedures, the
firm benefits from better workflow and good management in the assigned cases.
