2. Self-Questions – ask questions as they read
3. Visualize
4. Determine whats important
5. Make inference
6. Synthesize
7. Monitor comprehension – GOOD READERS KNOW WHEN THEY DON’T
KNOW. THEN THEY START USING FIX UP STRATEGIES LIKE CONTEXT
CLUES.
If we teach it in the reading, then the kids become better writers.
40 Effective Strategies

‘Reading in the Content Area’
The red hair and blue eyes already put me in a fairly small group in this town.
Then you hear the accent, and the pool shrinks even further. But I like it that
way, because I was never a ‘cookie cutter’ kind of woman.
DC is where I now call home, having lived in the U.S. for almost 10 years. I’ve
been lucky enough to experience a mélange of places across this great nation,
though D.C. has to be my favorite. Before I immigrated to the US from
Australia, I often travelled abroad. I studied Japanese for almost 8 years, and
can still read and write it sufficiently well to get around if need be. As a result
I'm a complete chameleon: You could put me in a dress and heels at an
embassy function and I'd be a charming addition on your arm... In wit,
intellect and style.
I found my way into education, and then one step further into urban
education – And felt like I’d come home. My students show me what it means
to shine, and that sweating the small stuff really isn’t worth it. I learn more
than the kids at times; It's amazing how much helping others will teach you
about yourself, especially in an inner-city environment.
Suffice to say, I may be a bit of an oddity from the D.C. pack. However, I come
with good references and an assurance that I'm a complete chameleon. I
work just as easily in a dress and heels as I do in jeans and flip-flops. If you
take the time to dig a little deeper beneath the sass, you'll also find kindness,
intelligence, quirkiness, a sense of humor and adventure, creativity, openmindedness, and quite salacious in the right context. I’m happy to have the
door opened for me without being offended, but I'm strong enough to hold it
on my own. I can fold a napkin 5 different ways, but it's easier to steal them
from Chipotle. I know that there’s a place for pearls, a time for a candy
necklace, and it's important to know them both.
So, if you fancy something out of the box and a little different to most of the
women on here, you know where to find me.
Desired arrangement:
Although I desire a typical SD/SB arrangement, I'm certainly open to
something that could grow into something more. So often it seems that we
can't choose the butterflies, they choose us.
But, like most girls here...I like to look pretty, go to pretty places, be given
pretty things. Even if our encounters were not at an embassy function, but
tucked away in a corner of Off the Record at the Hay-Adams... I like to look
the part. For myself just as much as you. What lady doesn't feel gorgeous and
feminine with something silky underneath, smelling and looking amazing as
she walks into a room in her best big girl heels?
And as much as I like to be spoiled, I like to spoil in return. If the chemistry is
right, I take a lot of satisfaction in making you feel like you are the only one
that exists. I like to please, and know that I have pleased you well. I'm big on
touch, affection, and witty banter that leaves a kind of electricity that lingers
for days afterwards. Should you want to surprise me with a gift but still like
some guidance, I have plenty of wish list's I can point you in the direction of.
I am looking for someone who's looking for the butterflies... That excitement
that comes before seeing someone, and the laughter that lingers as it turns
into flirting, which then becomes that electric chemistry as we inch closer. I
want to be the thing you look forward to most in your week.
About me: The red hair and blue eyes already put me in a fairly small group

time for a candy necklace, and it's important to know them both.
What I want: I'd like to meet someone who understands the meaning of
kindness and fun. He should have a sense of ambition with little entitlement
or arrogance, along with a keen sense of adventure. The ability to charm and
engage with witty banter is an absolute must as I believe truly engaging the
mind is essential to chemistry. He must be 5'7" or taller, and have good
grooming habits, and appreciates a woman who has the same.
