“Say Something!!!” Reading Strategy 1. With your partner, decide who will “say something” first. 2. Take turns reading a “chunk” of the selection aloud (stop @ every 8 or 10 lines). 3. Pause and say something about what was read. Do one or more of the following: a. Summarize all or part of the chunk b. Ask a question c. Clarify something you misunderstood d. Make a comment or inference 4. If you can’t do one of these four things, then you need to reread the chunk. 5. Your partner now offers a response to what was said. 6.
