The Tale of the Thumbs The Thumb Tribe are a peaceful, hardworking people. Their settlement is deep within nature its self, where nobody can interfere with them. The Thumb Tribe derive their name from their slave ancestors, who won their freedom with the guidance of a mysterious soul. For generations, they have worshipped a pillar constructed of wood and irradiating rock. This pillar serves as their connection to this mysterious soul that helped their ancestors. Centuries upon centuries ago, the Thumb people were enslaved by men of black robes and irregular masks. These men forced the Thumbs to do every bit of labor and tortured them occasionally. For decades, the Thumbs lived in constant fear wondering when their time would come. The only light they had was from a pillar that they constructed themselves, worshipping and praying to it whenever they needed strength. The masked men let them keep the pillar and thought nothing of it. One day, however, the pillar's rocks irradiated a light aura and the Thumbs heard a whispered voice say, "The time has come to break your chains and be free." Since the voice spoke to them, the Thumbs prepared for the day they would be led to freedom. The unbearable labor made them strong, knowledgeable, and well aware of the land. They made weapons sturdy enough to hunt and hid them. Weeks later, when most of the Thumbs were praying to the pillar, the light aura came once again although stronger than before.
