Saint John the Baptist Elementary Red Ribbon Week: October 14-17, 2019 “Love Yourself & Stay Drug Free.” Red Ribbon Week is the United States’ oldest and largest drug prevention program, reaching millions of Americans each year. This year’s theme, “Love Yourself & Stay Drug Free.” complements the idea of being kind to yourself. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Monday, October 14, 2019 ● “Sock It To Drugs.” - Students are invited to create and wear socks with their own anti-drug message or wear red socks with their school uniform. Tuesday, October 15, 2019 ● ● “Red Day.” - Students are invited to wear a red shirt with jeans. Mad Science Assemblies: “Be Tobacco Free! In fun and exciting demos, Mad Science explains how the body reacts to the chemicals in tobacco. Each assembly ends with the help of a "volunteer" who stands in an empty kiddie pool and gets "tobacco slime" dumped on them. (The kids love for this to be the principal!) ● “Shade Out Drugs!” - Students are invited to wear sunglasses with their school uniform. Don’t forget to wear formal uniform for Mass. Wednesday, October 16, 2019 Thursday, October 17, 2019 “Be On A Drug Free Team.” - Students are invited to wear their favorite team gear (jersey, shirt, sweatshirt …) with nonuniform bottoms. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------● Red Ribbon Week 2020 Theme Contest Send in your ideas for the 2020 Red Ribbon Theme Contest for a chance to win $500 in Red Ribbon Week Merchandise for Saint John the Baptist Elementary. Please include your name, school, telephone number and email address. Winners will be announced on or before February 3, 2020. All entries become property of the National Family Partnership. Note: NFP reserves the right to select the theme or design from one submission and match it with another submitted theme or design. In that case, there will be two contest winners. Entries should include a Red Ribbon in the design. The actual ribbon should be a double looped ribbon or bow, as opposed to a single loop.
