Adlerian Theory
Therapy is so critical in the process of rehabilitation. Individuals need to support others
who love them such as family and friends. What makes the Adlerian Theory so unique is that it
revolves around a sense to belongings and the ability to connect. We encounter fellow human
beings every day, and our ability to communicate with them is what determines our relationship
to specific people.Additionally, we are the best version of ourselves when we can feel connected
and cared for by those who appreciate us such as friends and family. When we do not feel valued
or appreciated, we tend to withdraw and give up. This tends to lead to a person isolating. The
purpose of this paper is to define the Adlerian theory by discussing the importance. Moreover, it's
very vital to explain how this psychoanalytic theory can assist individuals in rehabilitation. With
every upside, there is always a downside, so expanding on how it may not be beneficial to some
people is necessary. Lastly, it would be paramount to state how this theory is used as a treatment.
What is it
Adlerian theory denotes to the practice and belief that people as individuals should be
validated, connected, and made to feel significant. The method applied in therapy concentrates
on the whole individual and not just parts or specific pieces that need development. The process
also grips the personality as the development of children and environmental influences(Hopper,
2018). This is necessary for findings ways to assist the person in moving ahead if they want to
improve their lives. Adlerian’s theory constructed on having a sense of community. The idea is
that if people who feel a sense of belongingness will act accommodatingly and well, creating
bonds with other people. However, if individuals feel like outsiders, they will act in irrational
and destructive ways as a way to display their feeling of insufficiency.

How Can It Help? 1
Adlerian therapy assists individuals in building confidence in themselves to motivate
them into making better decisions. It can also help them in being more independent without the
anxiety that they might fail (Hopper, 2018). Although failure is natural in life, always feeling like
a letdown because of an inside belief can inhibit their growth from day to day. When that fear is
replaced or vanished, that person can live a better life and form interconnected relationships with
other people. More importantly, the goal of this treatment is to substitute long-held negative
views, so that the individual can become more self-reliant, self-assured, and socially empowered.
This will indeed lead to improved decisions as well as better relationships. This new confidence
will continue to rise through their lives as they remain to make better choices for themselves.
However, this type of rehabilitation takes time and replacing existing beliefs can expose a host of
prospects for that individual that they did not think was possible.
How It Doesn't Help.
This type of therapy and like most other therapies are not for people who want quick
results. It also does not serve those who only want to be in treatment for a short amount of time.
This treatment takes determination, devotion, and obligation. This type of therapy can assist
people in converting into a healthy and satisfied individual. Hence, it doesn't happen overnight.
Another restriction in Adlerian therapy includes a deep dive into unanticipated life events. This
might be threatening for those who do not wish to offend childhood memories that might be
disturbing. Since it is essential to establish the reasons for current behavior and thoughts,
Adlerian psychotherapists insist on building a childhood timeline. Confronting old memories
does not work for some individuals.

Adlerian Theory as a Therapy.
As a therapy, this concept aids individuals by helping them comprehend where their
actions stem from, how they can alter their view of themselves, and how they can change their
view of their childhood. Adlerian believed that this occurred in four steps with a therapist. At the
start of therapy, the therapist involves developing a close relationship with their client. From the
initial stage, goals and boundaries are established before starting real work, indeed building the
groundwork (Hopper, 2018). This is critical before moving forward. If this does not happen,
then the complete therapy would fall apart. Afterward, the therapist will reassure their client to
expand on their behaviors, upbringing, and drives. This creates a basis of how the person came
about to acting the way that they do now. When conducting group therapy, I can use this
technique, not only to open my client but to remind them that we are all human beings with
emotions.
Conclusion.
Adlerian theory is beneficial in therapy because at the very end of each session, we are
all humans and we always need to communicate with one another. This treat takes time and can
not be rushed. We need time to comprehend where our actions are originating from and why we
feel the way we feel.
