Protagonist: Bruno Struggle: his conflict with what he feels and how he’s supposed to feel
Antagonist: Bruno’s fear Struggle: how it controls him.
Conflict:
-Bruno affirms that Shmuel isn’t his friend and throws him under the bus by saying he was “helping himself with the pastries” when in fact Bruno had giving them to him
-Bruno betrays his friend when he denies him.

Man vs Fate
Protagonist: Bruno’s Mother Struggle: her hatred and aversion to the camps.
Antagonist: Nazi conflict Struggle: The concentration camps and their relationship with the family.
Conflict:
-After finding out about the camp Bruno’s mother tries to get her children away from that environment but no matter how hard she tries it ends up with Bruno getting really involved with it, ultimately dying because of it.

Struggle: her loyalty to her husband but her hate for his work
Struggle: his conflict between his wife and his pride for his job as a soldier.
Conflict:
-Bruno’s mother and father have a fight about how she despises what he does to the Jews and how she finds it heartbreaking
-Bruno’s father takes pride in what he is doing and doesn’t understand his wife’s struggles with his work.
