Background
You are an explorer who has travelled to an exotic faraway island in search of new species of animals.
Part 1: Create your creature
What does your animal look like?
You need to provide a drawing or image of your newly found animal. Your drawing needs to show the
physical characteristics of the animal. You might want to think about what its covering is (skin, fur,
scales) whether it has legs, wings or both, whether it has claws or webbed feet.
You can create an animal based on the parts of other animals.
Part 2: Habitat
Based on the physical characteristics of your animal, you need to provide:
 The type of environment your animal can survive in.
 The type of food your animal eats and how it gets the food.
 How does your animal protect itself from predators’.
 How your animal is able to produce young.
Part 3: Name your creature
Using scientific naming conventions to come up with a name. Remember that many scientific names
have a Latin or Greek base. Research some names based on the physical features of your animal. Eg if
your animal has two of something then it could have the words bi- or di- in the name.
Part 3: The newspapers have called!
Upon your discovery the newspapers of the world want to know everything about your discovery! These
are the details they want:
 You need to prepare a brief biography of yourself – including name, educational background and
languages spoken.
 A description of where in the world you discovered this marvelous creature 9you can create a new
location if you wish.
