BRIEF HISTORY OF SIWES
Establishment of SIWES
•
The Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme was established by the ITF
in 1973 to enable students of higher institutions to gain practical experience
in their various fields of learning. This exposure is indispensable and it
further complements their academic work. Its therefore a prerequisite
towards attainment of a University degree.
•
It is an academic program designed for students undergoing degree courses
in technical fields targeted at exposing the students to the real world of
work while enabling them to get a practical knowledge of the various fields.
•
It has become a necessary pre-condition for the award of degrees to
students undergoing technical courses in higher institution.

• CHALLENGE #02
Another major challenge that was encountered was the
short period of time available to implement the Elizade
Autoland Auto-Shop Management System application that
was developed.
• SOLUTION #02
• RECOMENDATION AND
CONCLUSION
As a student who benefit from the SIWES program. This Training expose me to the real
world of software development, this bridges between the theoretical knowledge
acquired in school and practical skills necessary in software development.
I will recommend that the duration of time spent during this training should be
extended, this will allows students to acquire more skills and also have enough time to
execute more projects.
Also, I will recommend that SIWES and the prospective Institutions should monitor the
welfare of their students while on their course of training, reason because some
students face sexual abuse, maltreatment etc but keep it to themselves reason because
their fear to loose their internship.
THANK YOU !
