Improves time management was the response of majority of the students gave when asked how they believe extracurricular activities affects academic performance. It was also documented that they believe extracurricular activities lead to improved grades. This data however was based on their personal opinions and not facts. When asked about their academic performance during seasons of main events it was seen that they do not perform as well when compared to seasons when they are not preparing for an event. The factual data gathered does not coincide with the research of Stephens, Larry J. and Schaben, Laura A.(2002) have said “As interscholastic sports participation increased, GPAs improved.” Based on the research data gathered it can be concluded that academic performance is in fact affected by extracurricular activities.
