Create a legend and label a map of the world showing your connections to at least 20 places around the
world. Divide your connections into 3 groups – CORE - CENTRAL – INCIDENTAL .
1. Show CORE or major influences such as birthplace, family heritage, language origin, religion etc.
These are relationships that are core to you as a person. Indicate these connections using a red
toned colour.
2. Indicate CENTRAL connections to places that are more secondary, that are important to you as
an individual such as a favourite vacation destination, the location of origin of your favourite
sport, the location of origin of a preferred dance, music group, or food, etc. This may be the
cultural group of a close friend of family member. These are relationships that are central to
you as a person. Indicate these connections using a green colour.
3. Show temporary or INCIDENTAL connections that are minor such as where your phone was
made, or where your furniture was made, or where your clothing was made. Indicate
connections to places that are incidental using a yellow colour.
4. If a country has more than one, colour that country the darkest colour of them.
5. Label each country with which you listed as a connection.
6. Hand in your map and your list of 20 connections.
