Distance, Displacement, Speed Lab
Purpose: In this lab, you will measure your own time, distance and displacement.
Then you will calculate your speed.
Procedure:
1: Create a course that consists of two straight lines and one corner.
2: Use the meter stick to measure the distance of your course. Record the distance.
Distance=
3. Use the meter stick to measure the displacement of your course. This should be a
straight line between where the course starts and where it finishes.
Displacement=
4. Record the time that it takes for each member of your group to run the course.
Record in the table below.
5. Calculate the speed of each member of your group. Speed=distance/time

6. Create a distance vs. time graph
7. What do you notice about the relationship between the slope of the line and the
speed?
Part 2:
1. Create a course that is _________meter long. Mark the course every 5 meters.
2. Record the time it takes to travel each five meter distance while walking, skipping,
and running.
