Our commitment is to provide a person-centred approach to individuals whilst complying with legislative obligations and the regulatory framework of our funding and government bodies. The TTW Trainer and Marketer plays an integral role in the success of our services and achievement of our organisational objectives. This role recognises the right of people with disabilities to inclusion, participation and self-determination. Primary Objectives: The TTW Trainer and Marketer oversees and promotes the Transition to Work Program as well as ensures the TTW program adheres to ADHC’s TTW Guidelines, and is delivered in accordance with the prescribed TTW program principles. The TTW Trainer and Marketer ensures that they support the person with a disability to be at the centre of their decision making and enable people with disabilities to achieve their desired outcomes of their plans, goals and aspirations within an environment that ensures the safety and dignity of the individual. The TTW Trainer and Marketer ensures that supports are provided in accordance with the Disability Services Standards, and are active in advocating the rights of people with a disability. Key Accountabilities To train, assist and support young school leavers with disabilities to develop the skills needed to transition to work. To support the development of communication, social, interpersonal, community and daily living skills by implementing a range of support programs that promote involvement and integration into the local community. To plan and regularly review with the people supported; identified person-centred goals and plans which contribute to a life of meaning for that individual and which extend their community integration. To market the TTW program as an interactive and meaningful experience for potential participants, present to schools and source participants. Ensure strong inter-program relationships between the TTW program and other relevant HWNS programs by monitoring program relationships and always reporting relationship issues to GM. Oversee TTW resources by maintaining a TTW asset register and ensuring all agency equipment (e.g. laptops, digital cameras, video cameras) is stored in a nominated secure area, ensuring all movement of equipment is documented. To provide support which reflects the Disability Services Standards, funding objectives, plans and goals. To actively promote HWNS Vision, Mission, Values and Strategy in everyday work and in the community. To follow and implement Workplace Health & Safety guidelines and instructions. To promote the dignity, independence, choices, rights and responsibilities of each person with a disability, mindful of dignity of risk and duty of care ensuring there is a balance that includes healthy risk taking. To undertake ancillary administrative tasks necessary for efficient communication, including maintaining appropriate documentation and systems to safeguard the wellbeing of the person they support. To work collaboratively as a member of a team and respect team values, and participate in learning and development opportunities. To perform other duties as applicable to the position or requested by management from time to time. Planning The TTW Trainer and Marketer develops, implements and maintains all the Transition To Work - Individual Transition Plans. They coordinate and attend registrations and initial meetings to establish needs and to agree on goals. They coordinate and attend two parent/carer review meetings per year and schedule two informal plan reviews per year with program participants. Support The TTW Trainer and Marketer provides appropriate support to enhance school leavers independence, and enable participation and inclusion in the community. They have a comprehensive understanding of the range of individual needs of people with disabilities and are able to determine them with the individual and develop person-centred plans. This includes the provision of engagement with multiple internal/external services in assisting young people to access and participate in social, sporting, health and fitness and recreational activities of their choice. HWNS recognises that families are an integral part of a person’s life. The TTW Trainer and Marketer assists family, friends and others to resolve a variety of complex needs. They have input into the development of relationships with family and community. They ensure all TTW interactions are kept confidential. Marketing The TTW Trainer and Marketer attends schools, career expos and relevant meetings as requested to market the TTW program. They follow up established links and visit all relevant businesses, community services and other relevant organisations according to participant and program needs. Training The TTW Trainer and Marketer delivers planned pre-vocational training including: Certificate 1 Employability Skills: Becoming a Worker Job Club Site Visits Guest Speakers DWP Volunteering Deliver training/conduct of BAW in accordance with Industry Standards Provide remedial and/or additional training in areas of assessed need Complete and maintain all training records for BAW at the completion of each module for each allocated client in accordance with Industry Standards. TTW Trainer and Marketer PD Page 2 of 6 Updated 25.11.2013 Position Description: TTW Trainer and Marketer Funding The role of the TTW Trainer and Marketer is to ensure the TTW program adheres to ADHC’s TTW guidelines and is delivered in accordance with the prescribed TTW program principles. Strategies are focused on delivering employment outcomes (i.e. the development of skills and capacity for employment ideally leading to employment) for young people with disabilities. They ensure that all funding opportunities/ changes/ updates are known as well as ensuring that registered clients are funded. Staffing The TTW Trainer and Marketer assists with the guiding and learning of less experienced team members. They assist in prioritising work for others and in the gauging of effectiveness of team members. They organise the allocation of support staff. They identify learning and development needs of support staff to assist with supporting complex requirements of individuals. They assist others to resolve conflict. Communication The TTW Trainer and Marketer follows systems to support the needs of the person with a disability. They work with other staff to share ideas and experiences and ensure continuity and consistent support. They maintain appropriate documentation to the required standard, ensuring client confidentiality is respected at all times. They suggest improvements to support opportunities within the context of their role. They assist with the preparation of complex management reports and additional administrative tasks such as processing of timesheets. They identify continuous improvement opportunities and recommends changes. The TTW Trainer and Marketer ensures the development of genuine partnerships between CHOICE and clients by: - ensuring 100% of TTW Reports are received and reviewed monthly, - four meetings are held per year, - representing CHOICE/HWNS at regional forums, - representing CHOICE/HWNS at regional ADHC level meetings, - and attending conferences and meetings/forums as requested by GM. Professional Development The TTW Trainer and Marketer attends regular staff meetings to obtain and exchange ideas and information. They participate in relevant training programs to assist their professional development in the interests of clients, and to enhance their career opportunities. They are committed to a culture of continuous learning for themselves and for clients. The TTW Trainer and Marketer is able to make a positive contribution to their work environment. They are self aware and able to monitor work-life balance. The TTW Trainer and Marketer ensures TTW program staff have current relevant training and information including the review of TTW training needs at each performance review meeting, checking of ADHC portal daily, disseminating relevant info to HWNS staff and GM and reading all peak body updates e.g. NDS The TTW Trainer and Marketer develops and maintain skills relevant to the position by attending all relevant training / forums and conferences as directed by GM. Quality Assurance HWNS operates on principles of continuous improvement. The TTW Trainer and Marketer participates in quality audits and collection of evidence to ensure compliance with AS/NZS ISO 9001: 2008, HWNS policies and procedures and the Disability Service Standards. Workplace Health & Safety The TTW Trainer and Marketer follows and supports HWNS Workplace Health & Safety policies and procedures. They have a responsibility to take care of self, other staff members, people with disabilities and visitors by ensuring a healthy and safe working environment. They reports accidents, injuries, identified hazards and/or risks by using appropriate reporting forms. They conduct risk assessments of all activities. They ensure the use of personal protective equipment where necessary. They actively participate in health and safety related training programs and events, and recommend the need for specific safety related training for staff. They maintain and promotes a workplace free from discrimination and harassment of any kind. They follow the HWNS grievance procedure to report any discriminatory or harassing behaviour, including discrimination and harassment on the grounds of sex, marital status, pregnancy, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, age, sexuality, disability, religion. Decision Making Independent, common sense decision making is required at times when supporting people with disabilities alone e.g. using initiative whilst participating in community access. The General Manager is available to provide assistance, guidance and clarity. Recommendations and suggestions for significant operational improvements should be referred to the General Manager to ensure appropriate consultation prior to implementation. Positive communication with people with disabilities, including those who use augmented means of communication, is an integral aspect of the position e.g. Auslan, Makaton. Also to recommend training to ensure support staff have access to information required to provide support consistently. Participate in and contribute to team meetings. Contribute to ongoing learning. EXTERNALLY Develop healthy ongoing relationships with families and community. External relationships with funding bodies, businesses and auditors as required. Assist with building strong working relationships with other service providers, agencies and practitioners who are supporting our people. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Completed Certificate IV Disability Work. Good understanding of context of providing support in a disability/community setting or similar human service environment. Good understanding of Disability Service Standards and other relevant legislation and the implementation of such. Good written and verbal communication skills, including the capacity to apply policy and procedure. Intermediate level computer skills (e.g. use of Microsoft suite). A reasonable degree of physical fitness. Demonstrated capacity to work with honesty and integrity. Flexibility, resilience and compassion. Possession of a current drivers licence. Possession of a current Senior First Aid Certificate. Satisfactory criminal history checks as required. Performance The TTW Trainer and Marketer participates in a probationary and an annual personal performance agreement/appraisal planning and development process, in consultation with TTW Trainer and Marketer PD Page 5 of 6 Updated 25.11.2013 Position Description: TTW Trainer and Marketer their immediate supervisor/manager. The purpose of these reviews is to provide feedback on performance over the twelve month period and discuss Key Performance Indicator (KPI) achievements and shortfalls.
