Additional locking device for metal grilles,
especially basement shafts
The Model 8173 with escape route function offers the
option of unlocking the locking device from below using
a handle that is inaccessible from the outside. The IKON
metal grille security device thus provides double
security: Protection against unauthorised opening on
the outside while the grille can be opened rapidly from
the inside in an emergency to create an escape route
(e.g. in case of fire). The advantages of this technology
are also evident in the absence of an emergency: The
escape route function can be re-established at any time
after opening for example or to reach an oil filling spout.
The user-friendly unlocking option is also an advantage
when cleaning the basement shaft.
Area of Application
The fully-developed system for securing metal grilles of
different heights. Secures windows as a precautionary
measure. Flat shape (thus not a tripping hazard). The cover
plate fastened in four positions at the top of the grille, the
sturdy, wide tension rod and the dual screw connection deep
in the well combine to provide an integrated, burglar-proof
system. Security plates ensure the screw joints are
inaccessible.
