TEQIP-II A One-Week CEP under TEQIP-II on LinearAlgebraandsomeotherMathematicalPrinciplesforElectrical Engineers (to be conducted on IIT Bombay Campus) June 18-22, 2016 Organized by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University Lonere, Dist. The main aim of this course is to address a lacuna in current engineering curricula, which often do not present basic mathematical principles as needed by the engineer, with the perspective useful to an engineer. On the other hand, these mathematical principles are extensively used and the average engineer feels overwhelmed by mathematical formalisms, which are actually meant to make the engineering. problem easier to deal with. In this course, we aim to make a beginning at addressing this common curricular lacuna. The workshop will have a significant focus on hand-on sessions, which will be used to illustrate the methodologies and concepts presented in the course. We intend to make this the first in a series of such exposure courses. The main objectives of the training program are: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Formulate problems in electrical engineering from real life situations, Conceptualize the outcomes of electrical problems, Simplify complex problems and estimate the reasonableness of solutions, Visualize solutions graphically from inspection of their mathematical descriptions, Visualize the form of a time function by inspection of the poles and zeros of its frequency transform, 6. Be able to mathematically model physical reality, 7. Perform rudimentary analysis in electrical engineering, 8. Validate solutions to electrical engineering problems Who May Benefit This CEP is intended for faculty members and research scholars working in engineering institutions from any engineering field in India. The program would also be useful to the professional working in the areas of design in the field of Electronics, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Civil and Information Technology. About the University The University is committed to provide guidance and directions in technical education, research and development to meet the needs of the industry, business, and society at large. Although relatively young, the University is making its mark in the field of research and technological services through its dedicated faculty and disciplined students. Established by Government of Maharashtra vide Act XXII of 1989, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University is a unitary (non-affiliating) University with full funding from the State Government. 1st March 2016 is another milestone now in the history of this university as it becomes State Technical University(affiliating), by Government of Maharashtra Act No. XXIX, 2014, to which the Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy, Architecture and Hotel Management and Catering Technology Institutes from the state shall get affiliated over the next few years. Situated in the vicinity of the historic Raigad fort and surrounded by the hills of Sahyadri range, the 470 acre terrain of the University campus has all the natural beauty of Konkan. At present, the University conducts 8 B.Tech. and 6 M.Tech. programs in various disciplines of Engineering & Technology. The University also conducts PhD programs in various disciplines of Engineering & Sciences. Although relatively young, the University is making its mark in the field of research and technological services through its dedicated faculty and disciplined students. Located on Mumbai-Goa National Highway No. 17, the university is 150 km south of Mumbai, 20 km north of Mahad and is 125 km away from Pune. It is also well connected by Konkan Railway. About the Department The core strength of any university lies in the quality of its faculty. The department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering is headed by Dr. S. L. Nalbalwar and has a team of highly motivated and dedicated faculty to the cause of academics and striving to do the best in the interest of the university and its students. Faculty members are PhD/post graduates in their respective fields, whereas others are pursuing higher studies. Faculty members are actively involved in research work and regularly publish their research in journals and conferences. Faculty, as a team, aims to remain focused, promote innovative learning and serve beyond campus and a network of like-minded persons for success.
