Nu-Lite Conversion Saves Money,
Energy and the Environment
While Providing More Light

new light, literally.
“We decided to switch out
the fixtures and lamps in our
warehouse to save energy and
provide better light in that
workspace,” said Joe
Impastato, General Manager,
Nu-Lite.
After evaluating all of the
options, Nu-Lite decided to
keep the same number of
fixtures and the same lighting
layout in order to minimize the
scope of the project.. The
retrofit took less than three
days to complete (and was
done while the warehouse
continued operation).
Fifty-two 400W metal
halide high bay fixtures with a
total consumption of 20,800W
that produced an average of
32 to 33 foot candles were
replaced with fifty-two fourfoot, three-lamp, 49W T5/HO
fluorescent F-bay fixtures,
with a total consumption of
just 7,644W and average
foot candle production of 33
to 35. The retrofit project
affected 25,000 square feet
of warehouse space and
reduced energy
comsumption by 63%.

Nu-Lite Stands Out
You may have noticed that
Nu-Lite is, well, more
noticeable! We’ve got a new
sign for our New Orleans
branch and it makes us the
center of attention, literally.
The new three-sided
sign, created by GraciHart
Electric’s sign division, is
designed to be visible from
all directions—north, south,
east and west—from its
location on the corner of
Tulane Avenue and South
Broad Street.
“Our building sits back
from the street, and our
previous sign was flat and
affixed to the side,” said Joe
Impastato, General
Manager of Nu-Lite.
“Customers would pass
right by us, even when they
were looking for us and had
the street address, because
the sign wasn’t always
visible to passing cars.”
