Presented by: John Fraley
Follow the fascinating lives of two prominent Glacier
National Park women: Josephine Doody (the Bootleg

In a series of true adventure stories, Wild River Pioneers

Fork of the Flathead drainage within Glacier National
Park and the Great Bear Wilderness.
John Fraley received wildlife degrees from Montana

Hike 734: Every Mile of Glacier’s Trails,
In One Incredible Summer
Presented by: Jake Bramante
On May 17, 2011, Jake Bramante took his first
steps towards becoming the first person to hike
all 734 miles of trails in Glacier National Park in
one year. His presentation explores how he went
from IT professional to budding entrepreneur and
the inception and completion of the project. Relive
his journey through photos, HD videos and honest
storytelling about his encounters with unseasonably
high snowpack, injury, panoramic vistas, waterfalls,
grizzly bears, birds, flowers, fighting bull moose,
and more. He finished his journey on October 15,
2011 and concludes his presentation with lessons
he learned that have applications both practical and
metaphorical for anyone who needs encouragement
to start or find the strength to finish.
Jake Bramante arrived in Northwest Montana at
the young age of three from Idaho. He headed off
to college in Arizona and came back four years later
with a BS in Computer Information Systems and a
renewed desire to take advantage of the amazing
country he missed so much. He began to hike and
backpack the Bob Marshall Wilderness complex
and Glacier National Park. In the spring of 2010,
he walked away from his corporate job as an IT
professional to pursue film and video production.
A year later, his project developed to be the first
person to hike all 734 miles of trails in Glacier
National Park in one year and film his pursuit.

James Joyce’s monumental novel Ulysses often tops

U.S. was banned until 1934. This seminar will cover

Taking outstanding photographs requires more than
just a technical familiarity with your camera. The
difference between a good photograph and a stunning
image is often determined by how the subject is
composed. This class centers on methods to improve
your ability to see photographic subjects and to
visualize how to best compose the subject to achieve
the emotional reaction you desire from the viewer.
We will examine basic principles of design and ways
to organize images so that they invoke a predictable
response from the viewer. These and other concepts
are supported by examining images from accomplished
photographers. The learning experience is enhanced
by over 140 slides, printed materials, the inclusion of
practical exercises, and a class project.

that’s probably when we learned about sentence
fragments and run-ons, subject-verb agreement,

sounds and looks right, without understanding
why. Take a long lunch, and you’ll remember the

Supply and demand are not only the backbone of
economics but also at the heart of every personal and
professional relationship. In the workplace one of the
top reasons employees remain loyal to their organization
is expressed appreciation. At the heart of demonstrating
that appreciation is civility, a concept that some believe is
dead and gone. Yet it’s civility that is at the heart of what
happens in your business. In this class, you’ll learn how:
• One company went from “worst to best place to
work” in 2 easy steps
• Your perception may not meet your colleague’s
reality
•Incivility is costing you financially, physically,

Transition to Supervising
Thursday, October 2 MGMT 9035A
It’s difficult to begin supervising a new group. It can be even
more challenging if you used to be a co-worker to people
you now supervise. This class will focus on laying the
groundwork for supervisory success by exploring different
management styles, setting appropriate expectations, and
learning four habits that make a great “boss.”
Communication Tools
Thursday, October 9 MGMT 9035M
Whether you are talking to your supervisor, an employee, a
member of your family, or even your pet, the key to getting
your desired result is the ability to communicate well. Learn
how thinking and processing styles impact communication;
practice listening actively and asking questions effectively;
and learn the keys to talking like a performance coach.
Keys to Conflict Management
Thursday, October 16
MGMT 9035H
The number one challenge of most supervisors – handling
conflict in their teams and with their staff! This class
will equip you with the knowledge and skill to resolve
conflicts effectively. We will discuss key elements of conflict
resolution and consider multiple techniques for guiding
contentious situations to positive outcomes.
A Culture of Accountability
Thursday, October 23 MGMT 9035O
Most of us have experienced the word “accountability” as a
punishment for not doing something correctly, on time or up
to standards. When laying blame is entrenched in a culture,
accountability lurks at the back end of the process. Learn
to lead with accountability at the front end of interactions
to clarify goals, establish expectations, build confidence
and achieve your desired results. Discover the steps and
language of accountability and leave with your action plan
for implementation.
Performance Coaching
Thursday, October 30
MGMT 9035P
Do you want to improve the overall performance and
productivity for your staff? Do you wish for your employees
to enhance their skills and meet performance goals but also
find their work rewarding and still respect you? Learn a
step-by-step approach to performance coaching. Performance
coaching is valuable because it provides much faster feedback
than the traditional performance review processes and
therefore can produce faster results, often without the need
for “negative” feedback or disciplinary actions.
Time Management
Thursday, November 6 MGMT 9035C
There are never enough hours in the day . . . especially as a
supervisor! This class will focus on strategies you can use
to maximize your work time to feel productive and reduce
stress. We will discuss the art of delegation and also consider
time drains that sneak on to every supervisor’s calendar.
Supporting Change
Thursday, November 13 MGMT 9035N
Would you like to see changes happen more quickly or at least
more efficiently in your organization? By understanding
typical human reactions to change you can communicate to
reduce misunderstandings and anxiety, help your change
initiative gain acceptance more quickly, and minimize lost
productivity and decreased performance. Understand the
cycle of change, discuss attachment to status quo, learn
strategies for communicating change and improve your
personal change skills.
Creating Strong Teams
Thursday, November 20 MGMT 9035I
The best way to get the most from your staff is to form
a cohesive unit that works together for the benefit of the
organization. Easier said than done – right? This class will
focus on steps you can take to help your team connect with
each other and start working together.
Developing a Leadership Mindset
Tuesday, November 25 MGMT 9035J
The basics of supervising are just a start. Once you have a
clear idea of ways to effectively handle the challenges of
supervising, it’s time to broaden your perspective. You play
a key role in your organization to create strategy, champion
change, and visualize a profitable future for the company!
Learn how to develop these skills and put them to work in
this energizing “Jump Start” finale.
