Duplex Pump Control Panels
Metron Duplex Pump Panels are designed for constant speed dual motor control
applications.
The standard controller consists of a main disconnect switch or circuit breaker, a control
transformer, two motor starters including overloads sized for the horsepower of each
connected motor and two hand-off-auto selector switches. The Metron Duplex Controllers
are supplied standard in a NEMA 3R rated enclosure painted gray.
Options available for Metron Duplex Controllers include circuit breakers in lieu of fuses and
fuse block, audible and visual alarms, pressure switches, timing features, and protective
devices. Optional enclosures include NEMA type 4, 4X and 12.
Listings
Metron Duplex Controllers are listed by Underwriters’ Laboratories, Inc. under UL 508
Standard for Industrial Control Equipment and meet or exceed the requirements set by the
National Electric Code. (N.E.C.).
Motor Starters
All motor starters supplied in Metron Duplex Controls are internationally rated and have
approvals from UL, CSA, Demko, Nenko, Semko, FI and ASE. The overloads are current
sensing and are designed to hold during high current demand when starting but will trip when
a sustained overload occurs. Tripping class of these overloads is according to UL 508 and
IEC 947-4. These overloads are designed to operate from 0 to 400 Hz and are available to
cover a wide range of full-load motor currents. The overloads offer manual or automatic
reset and are designed to protect AC circuits and motors against overloads, phase failure, and
long starting times.
Disconnect and Fuses
Metron Duplex Pump Panels are supplied with a main disconnect switch or circuit breaker.
The switch has door mounted handle with provisions for a padlock. Access to the enclosure
can only be gained when the disconnect device is in the “off” position; however, either device
does incorporate a defeater mechanism for service situations.
Note: All Metron Controls are priced and supplied standard with fuses. Replacement fuses
can be supplied separately. Please refer to the Metron power fuse selection chart for sizes
and pricing.
Operators and Alarms
Each Metron Duplex Controller is supplied with two “hand-off-auto” switches. In addition, a
wide variety of audible and visual alarms as well as start-stop pushbuttons and overload
resets can be supplied as options. Please refer to the option pages for details.
Custom Controls
While Metron offers a complete line of Simplex, Duplex and Triplex controls available with
a myriad of options, we understand that for some applications custom engineered controls
may be required. We offer complete engineering and fabrication services for almost any
control product need. For application assistance, please consult the factory.

Metron Control Products are supplied standard in NEMA 3R rated enclosures which are
intended for outdoor use and provide a degree of protection against falling rain, sleet, and

50 Hertz Operation
Metron Control Panels are supplied standard for 60 Hertz operation. Controls designed for 50
Hertz operation can be supplied at no additional charge.
Circuit breakers
Metron Duplex Control Panels can be supplied with a main circuit breaker in lieu of the
disconnect switch. To order controls with a circuit breaker, please substitute the last letter
“D” with the letter “C” in the product designation. Please note that some horsepowers and
voltages are supplied standard with a main circuit breaker due to the higher amperage ratings
required for these models. For pricing of controls with a circuit breaker, please refer to the
circuit breaker price sheet.
Note: Metron Duplex Control Panels can be supplied with individual circuit breakers for each
connected motor in lieu of fuses. For pricing of controls with individual motor circuit
breakers, please consult with the factory.
