The reflections between the RF shielded walls are optimized to add up to maximum of as many standing waves as practically possible. The chamber is used for testing electrical immunity of test objects. When performing electrical or electromagnetic testing (EMC testing) the reverberation chamber is mode-stirred or mode-tuned by means of a stirrer. A stirrer system is a (large) structure of aluminum plates that is stepwise turned during testing. The objective is to maximize the standing wave pattern in the usable test volume. These EMC tests are statistically evaluated and the “worst case” data are used for the final evaluation of the test result. The reverberation chamber creates a multi functional EMC test environment for commercial, military, avionics Options for reverberation chambers: and automotive testing. Comtest reverberation chambers comply with the IEC 61000-4-21, EUROCAE/ED-14, • An additional shielded room can be installed to house MIL-STD 461, RTCA/DO-160 standards as well as various high power RF amplifier systems (amplifier room) or to specific automotive standards. The reverberation room house control and test can be used for immunity and shielding effectiveness tests • equipment (control room). as well as for measuring total radiated power. Another • Additional large sliding door for bigger EUT like application for the reverberation chamber is simulating complex multipath environments like computer rooms • Additional RF shielded swing door and other electrically congested areas. • Non-conductive test table system racks or telecom equipment • EUT grounding strip The main advantage of testing in a reverberating chamber • Various RF connectors and FO feed through and over the traditional anechoic chamber tests is that less power input is required to achieve the same field levels • Non-conductive bracket with adapter for antenna’s wave guides which make expensive amplifiers obsolete. Stirrer system Comtest Engineering can supply the following All Comtest stirrer systems are compatible with software reverberation chamber solutions: by Nexio, Teseq and Rohde & Schwarz.
