Course Admin Guide
Course Objective
This course will enable participants to gain a broad appreciation of all features and other
aspects of D-Link switching technologies.
It aims to provide a comprehensive learning experience and equip participants with an
extensive understanding of networking in a LAN switching environment.
Upon completion of this course, participants will have all the tools they need to set up,
implement and operate D-Link switches.
Participants will have the opportunity to practice working with the material hands-on.
Participant Prerequisites
For an effective and efficient learning experience, the participants need to have a prerequisite
of at least one year of practical experience in LAN network implementation and operation.
Target Audience
This course is open to IT professionals with working experience in a relevant industry, as well as
others with basic knowledge of networking. Examples include junior technical support
engineers and pre-sales engineers.
This course is open to those who wish to pursue the D-Link Certified Specialist (DCS)
certification.

Course Flow
This is an 100 hours course, including lectures and hands-on practice lab sessions. Final
DCS Exam will be conducted for the candidates Registered for DCS Exam Separately, out of
these hours planned, inside the campus itself. The Course can be opted on the following
choices:

CRASH COURSE: 20 days of continuous classes

LONG TERM COURSE: 3 months duration – Weekdays or Weekends (Anyone*)

8 Classes, 2 days per week
4 Classes, 1 day per week
8 Classes, 2 days per week
** Opted any choice, each Day will require 7 Hours of attendance including
breaks. Different choices cannot be opted per student, but can be for per batch.

In this lab, you will test your understanding of the fundamentals of networking and
the TCP/IP protocol suite. After completing this lab, you should have a better
understanding of networking and the use of IP addressing and sub-netting.
LAB 2
In this LAB, you will learn the complete advanced features of Windows 7 Operating
System, how to manage Hardware and Software, Account maintenance, Registry,
Domain controllers, Networking with Windows 7, Wireless Troubleshooting, Security
& OS Hardening etc.,
LAB 3
In this lab, you will learn to access and configure the Switch for basic Switch
operations. After completing this lab, you should be able to connect to the Switch
using a serial cable or through terminal emulation, and the basic maintenance
commands for the Switch.
LAB 4
In this lab, you will learn to create and configure VLANs on the switch. After
completing this lab, you will have acquired the skills to create both static and
dynamic (GVRP) VLANs.

LAB 5
In this lab, you will learn to create and configure a Spanning Tree Protocol (STP).
After completing this lab, you should be able to configure STP and RSTP as well as
primary and secondary root bridges.
LAB 6
In this lab, you will learn to configure stacking. After completing this lab, you
should be able to configure stacking using two different methods: physical and
virtual.
LAB 7
In this lab, you will learn to configure routing both on: static and dynamic.
LAB 8
In this lab, you will learn to configure DHCP, ACL, LLDP, and System Maintenance.
After completing this lab, you should be able to configure dynamic address
allocation, permitting or denying traffic, learning about your neighbors, and backing
up your firmware and configuration files.
*** We request The Institution to provide us with one of the LABs with PCs (Loaded with
Windows 7 OS) for conducting the course, along with White boards, Markers, Dusters,
Projectors & Screen and Audio equipments when needed. ***
