2013 Railserve Supports LyondellBasell Steve Breitwieser, Rob Walls, and Kevin Brasky Railserve began a new switching operation for LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest independent plastics, chemical, and refining companies. The Morris, IL complex (60 miles SW of Chicago) is one of the largest petrochemical facilities in the Midwest and is operated by Equistar Chemicals, a subsidiary of LyondellBasell. Nearly 420 employees and contractors work in Morris, on an area of almost 900 acres. Using natural gas liquids as a feedstock, the plant manufactures ethylene, the world’s most widely-used petrochemical, which is then converted into polyethylene plastic resins. These resins serve as building blocks for countless products like leak-proof containers, food packaging, and toys. The Morris site recently added a 400 car classification yard to their newly upgraded and expanded facility and Railserve ensures that rail cars are moved safely and efficiently onsite. Railserve Site Leader Robert Walls and his Morris team look forward to a safe and productive partnership. Paul Phillips is Railserve’s Regional Leader for the area and Andrew Sekulski maintains the Morris locomotive fleet. Enbridge Partners with Railserve Enbridge, a leader in the safe and reliable delivery of energy in North America, selected Railserve to handle the switching and transload operation at a new terminal in north Texas panhandle. Appropriately, the Pampa, TX facility is known as “TexPan” and is owned by Enbridge Energy Marketing. This growing site is already preparing to begin construction for its phase 2 expansion, which will include a fixed rack truck/rail system where railcars will be directly loaded from storage tanks. This expansion will generate significant volume increases and Railserve Site Leader Robert Domnguez and his Pampa team are ready to help TexPan achieve its goals. Jason Liner is Railserve’s Regional Leader for this area and Damon Mathews maintains the Pampa locomotive fleet (which includes a Railserve LEAF®). Railserve LEAF Gains Momentum ® Demand for the Railserve LEAF® locomotive continues to grow because it delivers greater efficiency, fuel conservation, and lower emissions than nearly any other type of locomotive power. Because the LEAF® reduces fuel consumption by 50–65%, it also reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Each gallon of diesel fuel produces 22 pounds of carbon dioxide (a greenhouse gas). When a “typical” switching operation saves 50 gallons per day by converting to a LEAF,® it reduces its greenhouse gas emissions by over 400,000 lbs per year! In addition, the LEAF® reduces nitrous oxide emissions by 85% and decreases particulate matter by 90%. Production at Railserve’s locomotive shop in Longview, TX is in full swing with 5 units under construction (including 2 dual engine units). These units will be delivered to customers in early 2013, with other customers queuing up for new orders. Railserve is proud to take prospective clients to see (and ride!) the LEAF® in actual working conditions. It is impressive to witness Railserve Values its Roots While it is exciting to read about Railserve’s many new operations in the U.S. and Canada, it is important to recognize the commitment demonstrated by customers who have recently chosen to renew their agreements with Railserve. We appreciate their support and encouragement of our efforts and look forward to continued safe performance at their sites. Ingredion Grows with Railserve Railserve is proud to strengthen its partnership with Ingredion Inc by providing safe and reliable switching and track maintenance for its Bedford Park, IL complex. Ingredion (formerly known as Corn Products) is one of the world’s leading ingredient solutions providers. They turn corn, tapioca, wheat, potatoes and other raw materials into ingredients for the food, beverage, brewing and pharmaceutical industries (as well as many industrial applications). In early 2013, the site celebrated the official opening of a new dry-starch production facility–a significant investment at this 103 year-old plant (and part of the Company’s strategic plan to build on its strengths and expand capabilities). Railserve Site Leader Marcos Reyna and his Bedford Park team play a crucial role in Ingredion’s success by safely handling switching for multiple plant areas and constantly communicating with plant personnel. The team is eager to replicate the high level of service that Railserve provides for their sister Ingredion plant in Indianapolis, IN. Paul Phillips is Railserve’s Regional Leader for this area and Andrew Sekulski maintains Railserve’s locomotive fleet for the Bedford Park site. There is Gold in Those Hills! Railserve is proud to begin a partnership with Williams Energy at their newly-constructed site in the “Mountain State” of West Virginia. Williams Partners acquired the Moundsville, WV site in 2012 and it provides them with a significant footprint in the (natural gas liquids-rich) Marcellus Shale region. This site will serve as the platform for Williams to become a leading provider of gathering, processing and transportation solutions for producers in this fast-growing area. Williams realizes that safe, consistent, and reliable rail transportation is critical and selected Railserve as the switching provider for the Moundsville site. They will rely on Railserve’s expertise to keep production fluid. Railserve Site Leader Joe Cabell and his Moundsville team look forward to a strong startup and shares Williams’ core values – a commitment to safety and a work environment that fosters teamwork, accountability, and open communication. Terry Patrick is Railserve’s Regional Leader for this area and Dan Creger maintains motive power onsite. Sweet News in the Bayou State The town of Gramercy, LA is not only famous for being the home of those tasty Zapp’s potato chips.
