HIWALL TT
HIWALL TT is the newest packaged,
direct expansion, air conditioner range,
with built-in air-cooled condenser, for
outdoor installation. Low outdoor noise
makes it especially suitable for wireless
networks.
Optimal
application:
containerised BTS/Node B, and Remote
Nodes for WLL and Fibre Optic
Networks, and other technological
environments.
The galvanised steel cabinet is fully
coated with RAL7035 polyester powder,
and it is designed for improved rigidity
and enhanced resistance against

vandalism (openings, grilles & screws).
On models TT 05-06-08-10-13, the larger
central maintenance panel is provided
with handles for easier access. An
Aluminium alloy cabinet is also available
The direct expansion cooling circuit is
based around a high efficiency hermetic
scroll compressor, and built-in air cooled
condenser, equipped with pressureactuated fan speed controller.
All safety devices are included and
pre-set. Furthermore, HIWALL TT units
offer optional features such as fresh air

Plug and Play
Easier Handling
Vandal-Proof
Being a packaged outdoor air
conditioner especially suitable for
container installation, Hiwall TT does not
take up any internal room: all
components are built-in and protected by
the robust, vandal-proof, heavy gauge,
metal cabinet. The refrigeration circuit is
pre-charged with refrigerant, tuned and
fully tested before delivery. No piping or
refrigeration work is required on site: just
prepare cut-outs in the wall - according to
the template available with the
documentation – and make power
available. As soon as the unit is fixed on
the wall with its grilles and sealed, place
the remote control display in a suitable
position and feed the machine: Hiwall TT
is now operational.
Hiwall TT can be lifted easily thanks to
eyebolts on its top side, even on site,
using truck-cranes.
The whole refrigeration circuit is housed
in the heavy gauge galvanised steel
cabinet, with special IP20 openings to
protect sensitive components. No
external piping is required. All external
screws are anti-vandal type (special
head).
Faster Start-Up
Installation can be further speeded up
using the fast plug connector option
(available on request, according to the
unit configuration): no wiring is requested
on site, and therefore the connection can
be performed even by non-skilled
personnel. In case of unit replacement i.e. when the requested cooling capacity
increases over the single unit capacity the fast plugs allow replacement in a few
minutes.
Commissioning Hiwall TT is now
completely
automated:
auto-test
performs a complete cycle - testing
functions such as cooling, heating,
Freecooling & alarms – without changing
any pre-set value.

Low Noise
Hiwall TT is especially suitable for urban
installation within telecommunication
networks. The main components - such
as compressor, fans, insulation - have
been selected to reduce the sound
emission. Furthermore, the rigidity of the
cabinet has been enhanced, in order to
avoid spurious vibrations.
Cost Effective Cooling
The refrigeration
circuit features
state-of-the-art components as far as
design and efficiency are concerned. A
scroll compressor and plug fans – with
backward curved blades – reduce the
energy absorbed, while larger heat
exchangers optimise airflow and
minimise pressure drops. The optional

Wall cut-outs among Hiwall TT models
are compatible (fixing holes are
compatible as an option): This allows the
user to replace the air conditioner with a
more powerful one only when the
installed
heat
load
increases
significantly, as typically happens within
telecommunication networks, where new
standards – such as UMTS – and
possibly other Carriers are co-located in
the same site.
Continuous Operation
When equipped with the optional
Emergency Cooling feature, the unit
does not stop operation even in the case
of a mains failure: Fed either by a 48VDC
emergency supply from batteries, or by
230/1/50 from an inverter/generator,
Hiwall TT auto-sets its parameters to
ventilate and maximise Freecooling in
order to keep the indoor temperature
below the shut-down limit.

Construction and Panels
The unit is designed to be installed
outdoor, coping with the worst weather
conditions.
The self-supporting cabinet is made of
heavy gauge galvanised steel panels,
painted on both sides with RAL7035
polyester powder, insulated with
polyurethane foam, fire-proof class 1.
The back panel (wall side) includes
integral spigots, 50mm deep. Fixed
panels are secured by water-tight,
aluminium rivets.
All external screws are anti-vandalism
type, to be opened with a special tool
supplied with the unit. Metal safety grids
– rated IP20 - protect the machine and
prevent
contact
with
sensitive/dangerous components.
Conditioned air is delivered into the room
at high-level. Extract is at mid-level.
Refrigeration Circuit
Evaporator Fan
Condenser Coil
Evaporator fans are centrifugal type, with
backward curved blades (plug-type),
direct driven by integral electric motors.
Fans are statically and dynamically
balanced with self-lubricated bearings,
equipped with an air flow sensor as
standard to provide an alarm in case of
low air flow. Full front access for
maintenance.
Evaporator Coil
A single, inclined coil with copper tubes
and aluminium fins, having a large heat
exchange surface to reduce humidity
removal and increase efficiency. A
galvanised steel condensate drain tray
(10/10 mm thick) is provided.
Air Filter
The refrigeration compressor is a
hermetic scroll type, complete with
internal protection against overheating. A
crankcase heater maintains a minimum
refrigerant temperature to allow reliable
start-up and operation even in very cold
climate. The circuit is pre-charged with
refrigerant and includes: a thermostatic
expansion valve, filter dryer and sight
glass, low pressure and high pressure
switches and two access valves. The
compressor is housed in a compartment
separated from the air flow and protected
by an insulated panel closed with
anti-vandalism screws, accessible from
the front side for complete maintenance.

made
from
corrosion-proof materials.
The pressure-actuated speed regulator
maintains the minimum speed needed to
reject heat load from the condenser,
reducing compressor cycling and
outdoor noise.
The condenser coil is made of copper
tubes and aluminium fins, sized to allow
operation even in a harsh ambient, at
least up to 45ºC. It is protected by metal
safety grids, rated IP20.
Electrical Board
The electrical board is housed in a
compartment isolated from the air stream
and closed by a screwed on panel. It is
built in accordance with EN 60204-1
recommendations.
Each power circuit (both AC and DC) is
protected by an automatic switch.
Two plates - three openings each - are
available on the back panel of the Hiwall
TT (wall side), for power and control
cabling to the container: The most
suitable plate can be used, according to
the configuration of the unit and the
position of the cable tray.
The air filter is located in the cabinet,
before the evaporator coil, providing
filtration both for indoor and fresh air
(Freecooling option), it is easily
removable from the front (outdoor) side of
the unit. The air filter is 48 mm deep
(TT05÷13) or 60 mm (TT15÷21), pleated
type with a synthetic fibre surface and
metal frame, giving G3 class efficiency
(CEN-EN).
Connectivity
Condenser Fan
Hiwall TT is packed as standard on a
wooden pallet with shock-proof angle
pieces and a top cover made of pressed
cardboard/polystyrene
sandwich,
protected by flexible polythene film.
LAN (Local Area Networking) among
several units is allowed as standard;
sharing setting parameters, rotating the
units during their operation, keeping units
in stand-by and re-activating them when
required. WAN (Wide Area Networking)
is provided as an option.
PLP Packing
The condenser fan is of the axial type,
with integral IP54 motor and internal
thermal protection, statically and
dynamically
balanced,
including
sealed-for-life bearings. Blades, impeller

HIWALL TT is controlled by the Microface
Evolution: the Main Board is housed in
the electrical panel and it is connected to
the remote display, to be installed in the
container/room (connection cable is
included).
The user interface is the 3-digit back-lit
display showing parameter values and
relevant symbols/codes in a tree
menu. It
features navigation
push-buttons and status leds.
Both high and low priority alarms
activate a visual indicator and buzzer.
Input for Remote On-Off and volt-free
contacts for simple remote monitoring
of low and high priority alarms: high/low
room temperature, high/low refrigerant
pressure, fan/control failure are
available.
LAN management: functions provided
as standard include stand-by (in case
of failure or overload of the unit in
operation, the second one starts
automatically), automatic rotation, and
cascade (division of the load among
several units, through split of the
proportional band).

Hiwall TT can be supplied without a
remote display and relevant connection
cable. A service display (Microface /
Hiromatic) is therefore needed to start-up
and maintain the unit; then operation is
completely automated, allowing remote
communication

To automatically close the Freecooling

Aluminium Alloy Cabinet
Al Mg alloy, unpainted, protected during
transportation by a polyethylene film. It is
especially recommended for the larger
TT15÷21 models to optimise the weight
(TT15: 235 kg / TT18: 238 kg / TT21: 239
kg).
Epoxy Coated Coils
The condenser coil and/or evaporator
coils are available with aluminium fins
coated by epoxy film, for aggressive
environments.
R22 Refrigerant
Alarm Board
The AC mains power supply is used for
the compressor, condenser fan and
heaters. 48VDC is used for for
evaporator fans, damper actuator and
controls. Therefore, a mains failure
doesn’t stop the unit. Hiwall TT continues
ventilating to avoid hot spots and
activates the built-in Freecooling system
when the automatically optimised,
emergency temperature threshold is
reached.
230VAC Emergency
Cooling
The
400V/3Ph+N+PE/50Hz
mains
power supply is used for the compressor,
condenser fan and heaters. 230/1/50 is
used for evaporator fans, damper
actuator and controls. Operation as per
48VDC Emergency Cooling.
Clogged Filter Alarm
All external openings are rated IP20.
This feature strongly enhances the

Fresh Air Freecooling
An integrated modulating damper
opens/closes to cool the room with

off. The warm exhaust air is automatically
rejected outside through the unit, without

louver.
Activation
parameters are adjustable. A dedicated
temperature sensor is fitted in the air
supply section to avoid excessively low
air supply temperatures (adjustable
parameter).
A Metallic washable,
external air pre-filter is included.
Electric Heating
To generate an alarm when the main air
filter is dirty: the switch is factory set and
adjustable on site if a different setting is
needed.
Giving individual High/Low priority
alarms on volt-free contacts (either
normally closed or normally open).
Outputs are provided for the following
alarms: High or Low refrigerant pressure;
High room Temperature; Low room
Temperature; Fan Failure, Clogged Filter
alarm.
Wall Grilles and TT
Expandability
Air distribution grilles are made of
extruded aluminium; double row of
adjustable fins and protection net on the
supply grille, single row of adjustable fins
on the intake grille.
TT Expandability means same wall
cut-outs for the whole TT range, including
holes for fixing screws. When this option
is selected, TT05÷13 are provided with
larger fixing brackets to match with
TT15÷21 openings. Replacing the unit
with a more powerful one does not
require any further wall cut-out change.
When both items are selected - Wall
grilles and TT Expandability - TT05÷13
units are provided with larger fixing
brackets
and
TT15÷21
grilles,
compatible with the largest model
available. Installation template for Hiwall
TT15÷21 has to be used.
