Why work with Northern Ireland Companies
Northern Ireland is focused on international trade.
Our companies are keen to do business in the global
marketplace and have a wealth of experience in providing
innovative products and services that are valued by
customers in most business sectors worldwide.
As the economic development agency for Northern
Ireland, Invest NI assists the region’s companies to
develop global sales and helps businesses in overseas
markets to access quality products and services from
Northern Ireland suppliers.
Invest NI has assisted in developing a successful
infrastructure of indigenous companies currently doing
business in international markets through direct sales,
joint ventures and strategic alliances.
Our International Trade Programme is designed to help
companies access new customers, showcase their
products and services and develop those all important
business relationships.

Trading relationships with Estonia,
Latvia and Lithuania
Northern Ireland – A Global Business Centre
Many international companies have already located in
Northern Ireland as an ideal base from which to access
the European Union and other global markets.
Northern Ireland companies have been trading with
Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania over many decades.
As a result of this longstanding engagement with
this region, several Northern Ireland companies have
developed significant business relationships here.
With its flexible and open economy Northern Ireland has in
recent years attracted over 700 overseas investors including
major international corporations such as Microsoft, Seagate
Technology, Bombardier Aerospace, Caterpillar and Allstate.
Among companies doing business in this region
are Danny Boy Irish Whiskey and CK International,
manufacturer of waste management equipment,
is also now developing business in the region.
What makes Northern Ireland attractive to these and other
international companies is hi-tech expertise, industrial
ingenuity and a great lifestyle, making it one of the most
attractive inward investment locations in Europe.
Many of Northern Ireland’s leading companies,
particularly in key industries such as communications,
engineering, materials handling and life sciences have
significant business in Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.
They include FG Wilson, the world’s second
biggest manufacturer of diesel generating sets,
Powerscreen International, Terex Finlay and
McCloskey International, specialists in the design

machinery and recycling equipment.
The achievements of these companies in the
Baltics are indicative of Northern Ireland’s position
as a global leader in screening, crushing and recycling
machinery. Today 40 per cent of the world’s production
of equipment for these operations is designed,
manufactured and shipped from Northern Ireland.
Northern Ireland consistently out-performs all
other UK regions in academic qualifications.
