In home lighting, for example, CFLs have been popular for many years as a replacement for incandescents, and the latest generations are as slim and compact as their incandescent counterparts. Now SSL is also expanding into this area, combining energy-saving and long life. SSL also offers flexibility for creative designs in architectural lighting projects and it is increasingly being used in office and 4 industrial lighting projects. NXP Semiconductors offers a wide range of components that help you design energy-efficient lighting solutions. Our drivers and ballasts support the development of energy-efficient solutions for all markets for which energy-saving matters: street and road lighting, shop and retail lighting, residential lighting as well as office & industrial lighting. Residential lighting solutions With rising energy bills and ever tighter regulations on energy consumption, expectations on efficiency of residential lighting are increasing. Whilst CFLs have been the major technology associated with energy-efficient residential lighting over the past decade, SSL is also moving into this area and promises to provide even more innovative solutions for the future. NXP offers cost-effective driver solutions for both these lighting technologies. Compact Fluorescent Lighting UBA2024 integrated CFL driver To support real form-factor replacements for incandescent lighting, integration of the driver is key. For this, NXP’s UBA2024 CFL driver offers a fully-integrated solution with a minimum of additional components. To show products at their best, good white color rendering, as close as possible to that of natural daylight, is critical. It’s also essential that the color produced by the individual lamps remains constant over life. Moreover for retailers the total cost of ownership of lighting is important. Here the long lifetime of energy-efficient HID lighting or SSL helps to reduce maintenance and replacement costs. SSL is also becoming an increasingly appealing proposition for retail display lighting because of its flexible design and extremely long life-time. For this segment, NXP offers several driver solutions for HID lighting and SSL.
