Beghelli Street Light HIGH ENERGY SAVING STREET LAMPPOST WITH OPTIONAL PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM Many streets are illuminated with old fashioned lighting equipment which is not up to modern legal standards, where energy savings and light pollution are concerned. To substitute this equipment it calls for overcoming obstacles and considerable investment of funds; an effort from the lighting company and a search for the best possible technological solutions. “A Planet of Light at Zero Cost” is a whole new way of offering illumination equipment to lighting companies, integrating a technology with definite innovative features along with an integrated service presently used in many other fields. “PlanetSun” integrates the project with the installation of rotating photovoltaic panels in order to produce energy while at the same time reducing the energy consumption of street lighting fixtures. The saving increases noticeably according to the degree of usage during the nightime, where required by local and regional laws. The project calls for the replacement, “at zero cost” to the buyer, of Lampposts for a street lighting system with high-energy savings with a new generation equipment. The replacement and ordinary maintenance costs of the equipment are all included in the service charges for the entire duration of the contract. To insure real energy savings with the Beghelli system, a bank guaranty covers the minimum annual savings promised by each street light. Thanks to an electronic system you can, in real time, track how much energy the new system is saving compared to street lights using a conventional lighting system. The part of the savings that exceeds the minimum guaranteed will be a further economic benefit for the buyer. Furthermore, you can ask for emergency lighting to be installed on the very same lamppost. One or more Emergency Centres will be connected to the lamppost in order to feed them, should there be a blackout. In order to get the most out of your street light replacement, you can add a photovoltaic tracking system directly onto your new Beghelli Lamppost, thereby benefiting from some of the incentives to cover for the cost of the investment. 6 cost savings The steps • We will replace all of the Lampposts at ‘zero cost’ to the buyer • We will install a new generation lighting system which will bring enormous savings compared to traditional street lights • We will measure the real energy savings after installation of the new street lights • We will guarantee a savings of 10 euro per year for each lamppost, backed by a bank guaranty • Savings which exceed the guaranteed 10 euro per year will be divided between the buyer and Beghelli Servizi - Divisione ESCO • The buyer will benefit from ordinary maintenance of the lighting for the entire duration of the contract • It is also possible, “at zero cost” to the buyer, to integrate the new lighting with PlanetSun photovoltaic panels and immediately enjoy a 50% energy production. The remaining part of the cost benefits will go to Beghelli Servizi – Divisione ESCO in payment for the supply and installation of the street lights The benefits • Immediate savings on energy costs insured by a bank guaranty • Ordinary maintenance costs included in the service charges for the entire duration of the contract • Upon termination of the contract the buyer may purchase ownership of the entire system and enjoy 100% of the energy cost savings • Saving energy helps to safeguard our planet by reducing the emission of polluting substances resulting from the production of energy 7 RADIO CONNECTION WITH GSM CONNECTION BETWEEN THE CONTROL CENTRE AND THE BEGHELLI SERVIZI DATA BASE An idea for street lighting Replace obsolete street lights with new high energy saving lampposts at “zero cost” to the buyer Meet the legal standards imposed by local and regional laws governing energy savings and light pollution 8 THE CONTROL CENTRE CENTRALIZED FEEDING FROM THE BATTERIES TO THE EMERGENCY CENTRE An idea for road safety Install safety lighting on street lights and enjoy ordinary maintenance of the new emergency lighting system for the entire duration of the contract Beghelli’s remote-control systems perform the necessary tests to assure the system’s efficiency 9 Lighting Technology “A Planet of Light at Zero Cost” objective: light is an integral part of the environment in which we live and work. It is our duty to use the least amount of energy possible to produce it. 10 11 Contarisparmio Control centre Count the Savings (Contarisparmio) is a patented system which can precisely measure the energy consumption of each street light installed and compare it to a similar traditional type product to calculate and show, on a display screen, the energy savings in action. The precision of the measurement is assured: its technology is similar to the old style energy counters which meet the requirements as indicated by the EN 50470-1 and EN 504703 regulations. 12 13 KNOW YOUR ENERGY SAVINGS IN REAL TIME The Count the Savings (contarisparmio) counter shows the energy consumption of each controlled street lights, measures the amount of time it was on * and compares it to the data extracted from traditional street lights using an average consumption of conventional street lighting. * * exemplary values RADIO DATA TRANSMISSION USING THE SPREAD SPECTRUM SYSTEM Each street light is connected by radio transmission to the Contarisparmio control centre. The system used for the transfer of this data is very safe. 16 channels and the CRC error detection system are used, with back-off algorithms to guarantee the integrity of the data reliability of the 14 transmission in all weather conditions. The aerospace derived SFH DSSS system, better known as Spread Spectrum, does not provoke electro-magnetic pollution and is the very best technology offered today in the field of civic radio-communications. WEB VERIFICATION OF ENERGY SAVINGS The energy savings (in KWh) is sent, via GSM, from the ‘Count the Savings’ control centre to the Beghelli Servizi - Divisione ESCO data bank which automatically publishes the data on a website accessible to the buyer with a protected password in a client reserved area. Beyond checking on the energy consumption, the client can also see weekly data and the entire savings amount accumulated in a two-month period since the beginning of the contract. A dynamic graph is also displayed which shows the progression, on an annual basis, of the energy use listed by month comparing the new equipment to traditional equipment. * * exemplary values WEB VERIFICATION OF THE FUNCTIONING OF THE SYSTEM INTELLIGENT ACTIVATION WITH THE USE OF AN ASTRONOMICAL TIMER The integrated supervision system of the counter allows for a complete diagnosis of the entire lighting system connected to it. In case of malfunctioning of a pole, or the burnout of a lamp, the Control Centre is immediately warned via radio from the lamppost itself. The location and nature of the failure are immediately transmitted via the GSM transmitter to the Beghelli Servizi - Divisione ESCO data bank which will ensure prompt intervention and maintenance. The client may, at any time, check up on the good functioning of his entire system with this technology by going to his own personal reserved and password protected area of www.unmondodiluce.it. If the system has not been equipped with an automatic switching system on each lamppost, the Control Centre can activate an astronomical timer to regulate the switching on and off of the street lights according to the season’s sunset and dawn, setting a predetermined time before or after natural light. During the night, furthermore, you can selectively control any number of street lights to reduce their luminosity thereby further increasing energy savings. For extraordinary events, weather emergencies or a public holiday, you can double the amount of light produced by switching on, in a selective manner, both lamps of any given lamppost. 15 The Beghelli electronic ballast The height of technological performance, today, finds its expression in the optimisation of energy and natural resources savings techniques. This challenge has been perfectly met with the Beghelli street light, only one of the elements that make up their “A Planet of Light at Zero Cost” project: light is an essential part of the environment in which we live and work, and on the roads it is a primary factor for our safety. Using the least amount of energy possible to correctly illuminate our roads is one of the prime duties of our public administrators. 16 17 ENERGY SAVING CONTARISPARMIO ELECTRONIC DIMMER The intelligent “heart” of the Beghelli street light is a unique device, which permits high energy savings while maintaining high illumination. Each device has an identifying code of 6 numbers and/or letters, a micro-controller for the instantaneous calculation of the amount of energy saved and a military origin Spread Spectrum radio transmitter of with 16 different frequencies which detect and inform the 'Count the Savings’ control centre of the possibility of a data error, all in real time. The reliability index is very high (MTBF 100.000 hours) due to the equally high quality of the components used and the resin treatment which confers stability to the feeder regardless of external factors and vibration. 18 SWITCH ON BULB 1 BEFORE BLACK OUT SWITCH ON BULB 2 AFTER BLACK OUT IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION IN CASE OF LOSS OF ELECTRICAL CURRENT THE BEGHELLI STREET LIGHT: ELECTRONICS AT THE SERVICE OF ROAD SAFETY The most important characteristic of the Beghelli street light is its double lamp feature. Road safety is increased by the coupling of the light source, its most important function: should the main lamp temporarily be out of order the Beghelli electronic ballast instantly feeds energy to the second lamp and thus prevents any interruption of street lighting. Furthermore, if the electrical flow fluctuates a lamp could switch off provoking a 15 minute blackout before the same hot lamp can illuminate again (re-arming time). The Beghelli electronic ballast can compensate for this type of energy loss making it visually imperceptible and, furthermore, in the case of a momentary blackout, the re-lighting is immediate as the second, cold, lamp is activated, thus avoiding down time while the main lamp re-arms itself. 19 OPTICAL DISH FOR MORE UNIFORM LIGHTING The reflectors of the Beghelli street light are identical in all of their characteristics, and have been designed to function independently as well as contemporaneously. Each dish is made of polished anti-iridescent aluminium with a complex geometrical surface. The direction of the flow of light is realised without the need for corrective ribbing but by the action of a single dish designed with the help of the most sophisticated optical software available to obtain a uniform light of the highest quality. 20 In the field of street lighting the control of the quality of light is fundamental to safety, how it hits the observer’s eye is more important than even how it hits the street. This light must maintain a variation able to help distinguish space perception and prevent reflection from the road bed, especially in bad weather. The controlled a variation of the lighting allows, all things being equal, for a more powerful and uniform lighting for maximum eye comfort. RESPECTING REGULATIONS, ABSENCE OF LIGHT POLLUTION The Beghelli street light is in conformance with all of the regional regulations regarding light pollution. The shape of the dish has been designed to achieve just the right amount of light when the glass is parallel to the ground. This prevents the dazzling of drivers as well as permitting the night sky to be enjoyed. For this reason the measurements of the Beghelli street light have been certified by an important Certification Institute. The product is also in conformity with the following regulations : - CEI EN 60598-1 - CEI EN 60598-2-3 and can be installed on systems in conformity with UNI11248 series EN 13201. above: the decline of visibility of stars with the naked eye below: the artificial brilliance caused by defective lighting of an area ANTI-REFLECTION GLASS FOR MAXIMUM LUMINOUS EFFICIENCY The parallel face down position of the lamp allows for more profound lighting as well as taking better advantage of the reflections directed by the inner dish, especially designed to offer the best uniform lighting possible. Furthermore, in order to make best use of the energy fed to the lamp, a highly transparent anti-reflection glass has been studied so as not to compromise the width of the light fall, especially lengthwise along the road. A critical point of street lights along the road is determined by reflection factor of the external area of the glass, that area where the light rays are particularly angled and where the reflection, or lack thereof, of the inner dish determines the length of the lit area of the road. The polar curve of the pole’s light distribution increases the width of the lit area thanks a high performance system of optical devices. 21 Technical Characteristics High energy-saving street lighting equipment. THE BEGHELLI STREET LIGHT REPLACES TRADITIONAL 150 W SAP LIGHTING AND TRADITIONAL 250 W VM LIGHTING 22 Equipment description Adjustable focus, flexible use The Beghelli street light is the answer to the need for a high technology street lighting product. All of its components have been designed for maximum reliability over time and for ease of maintenance. The philosophy behind “A Planet of Light at Zero Cost” includes the importance of being able to adapt one’s products to the widest possible range of installations. The replacement of equipment onto existing street light is one of the main features of this project, and the Beghelli street light is up to the task. When it comes to street lighting the variations are many: pole height, distance between lampposts, inclination, type of street to be illuminated, etc… In order to satisfy all these variables a highly efficient system, which regulates the focus of the light, has been designed allowing the light case to be moved up or down, as well as from side to side. The lamp’s complex geometrical dish has also been designed keeping these eventualities in mind: the absence of corrective ribbing allows for more flexibility during focus adjustment and for less distortions when moved. • Double lamp for immediate re-lighting after a black-out and needing half the maintenance. • Dimmerable electronic ballast for high energysavings • Centralised management of each street light with pre-set timer switch and light potency regulated by an astronomical clock • Polyester-dust painted compressed aluminium casing to prevent corrosion fused • Dish-shaped polished aluminium reflectors • Tempered thermal shock resistant anti-reflection glass covers • Easy-to-reach casing with anti-accidental closing with a silicon rubber gasket • Rotating pole head equipped with adjustable goniometric joint • New generation SAP-T lamps for maximum efficiency (more than 110 Lm/W), adjustable focus ceramic lamp case with silvered contacts • Isolator switch • Wires located on a removable plate with rapid connectors Lamppost with optional safety lighting when connected to an emergency centre (pag. 26) Power W L 100+100 656 • Dimensions (mm) • L1 B H 638 455 198 lamp H1 154 SAP-T Socket Weight kg E40 9 Working temperature: -20° C ÷ 40° C Beghelli Street Light W Order Code Description Nominal Power W MTBF h Isolation Class Optical Group Protection level Light housing Protection level 100+100 1267 STRADALE 2x100W RX11 110+110 100.000 II IP66 IP43 Impact resistance Protection level IK08 23 Kit RX100 Contarisparmio Control mechanism for high energy-saving lighting equipment 24 The “A Planet of Light at Zero Cost” project’s goals come into being with the energy savings counter. The calculation’s point of comparison is the average consumption of lighting equipment installed with a traditional energy feed. For a 100+100 W Beghelli street light the comparison can be drawn against street light using 150 W SAP lamps, whose energy consumption is estimated at 170 W. In order to draw a proper comparison a highly reliable instrument must be used, similar to those used to measure electricity as prescribed by EN 50470-1 and EN 50470-3 regulations. The “Contarisparmio” counter uses this same technology to read the energy use of each Lamppost and compare it to the traditional street light. How the KIT works Rapid installation All of the Savings series street light transmit, in real time via radio, their actual consumption to the “Contarisparmio” counter. Once received, the counter transmits the information, via GSM, to the Beghelli Servizi - ESCO Division data bank for publication on the website. Each client has his own reserved area and protected password with which he can consult the on-line information at any time. The “Contarisparmio Kit” is delivered already assembled and ready to be connected. An active SIM card inside the kit is ready to transmit the data to the Beghelli Servizi – ESCO Division data bank. All the installer has to do is mount it on a wall and plug the device in to an F+N 230V - 50Hz electrical source. RX100 25 CENTRALISED LIGHTING SAFETY Emergency Management Centre with centralised batteries The lighting equipment of the “A Planet of Light at Zero Cost” project can be integrated into the central emergency lighting backup system. The Beghelli street light can be connected to the emergency management centre without making any changes to the installed equipment. The electronic feeder installed on all the street light knows when the electricity it receives comes from batteries and automatically activates a preset procedure for these emergencies, adjusting intensity (from 50% to 100% of light flow) as well as the duration of the intervention (autonomy), programmed according to need. Not only, but as soon as the electronic ballast knows that the energy it is receiving is from the emergency centre, it re-routes electricity to the cold lamp (the one that was off before the blackout) in order to immediately maintain lighting. The system configuration is managed by the ‘Contarisparmio’ Kit, which is connected via radio with all the street lights. Each individual street lights can be programmed differently for emergencies. The many different adjustments and configurations possible let you manage the street lights when it is in an emergency mode, using from 50% to 100% of its light flow. The equipment can be completely personalised with maximum flexibility and simple intervention management. 26 Power W 300 1200 3000 6000 • Dimensions (mm) • Electronic protection L B H level - Batteries 420 800 800 800 250 400 400 600 500 1110 1520 1520 IP40/IP20 IP40/IP20 IP40/IP20 IP40/IP20 Power supply V-Hz 230-50 230-50 230-50 230-50 Emergency control centres POWER Order Code Description 300 W 1200 W 3000 W 6000 W 1208 1210 1211 1212 CENTRAL BATTERY RX 300W AC CENTRAL BATTERY RX 1200W AC CENTRAL BATTERY RX 3000W AC CENTRAL BATTERY RX 6000W AC Remote-control panels Emergency control centres CENTRE 300 W 1200-3000-6000 W 1200-3000-6000 W 1200-3000-6000 W Order Code Description 1218 QUADRO RX-2 TRIF./4 MONOFASE 24 VAC 300W 1220 QUADRO RX-1 TRIF./2 MONOFASE 1221 QUADRO RX-2 TRIF./4 MONOFASE 1222 QUADRO RX-5 TRIF./10 MONOFASE Two 300 W line Emergency control centre Two 1200 W line Emergency control centre Five 3000 W line Emergency control centre Ten 6000 W line Emergency control centre An intelligent brain for saving energy The integrated intelligent radio interface on the street light and the emergency control centres of the A World of Light system lets you personalise your equipment and collect diagnostic information from all of your street light functions. This one-of-a-kind technology permits the creation of centralised emergency control reducing to a minimum the amount of energy needed for a blackout intervention. In case of emergency activation the lamps switch-on using a pre-set flow of energy which guarantees adequate autonomy and correct lighting of the street below. The traditional centralised systems, in order to perform in the same manner, need up to ten times the amount of energy: without the intelligent functions of the World of Light system, the emergency functions of traditional street light used 100% of nominal potency and without the possibility of establishing which street light need to intervene in case of an emergency. Setting up the equipment The Emergency control centre has a centralised group of batteries and must be connected to the equipment with a remote-control panel. In emergency situations, and during periodic tests, the panel connects the lines to the Emergency Control which in turn feeds them alternated 56Hz electricity lighting the lamps in their emergency mode. Beghelli’s technical assistance service will provide full details to start up the Emergency control centre and the remote-control panel in the most appropriate manner. The programming of the system to meet the client’s specifications is done via GSM from the Beghelli Service centre. 27 RADIO CONNECTION TO EACH BEGHELLI GSM CONNECTION BETWEEN THE BEGHELLI SERVIZI - ESCO Division CONTROL CENTRE AND DATA BANK Photovoltaic panels for Lampposts Avant-garde electronic technology at the service of public lighting with clean energy and producing up to 35% more energy compared to traditional static photovoltaic panels 28 PUBLIC ELECTRICITY INTERFACE COLLECTION LINE LAMPPOST VIA INVERTERS PHOTOVOLTAIC PANEL PRODUCTION COLLECTION LINE PLANETSUN CONTROL CENTRE 50% energy production “at zero cost” The “A Planet of Light at Zero Cost” project can be integrated into the Photovoltaic PlanetSun system while maintaining the same contract conditions. 50% of the energy produced will be at the disposal of the client without any further investment, while the other 50% and the economic benefits there from will go the Beghelli Servizi - ESCO Division 29 DOUBLE AXIS MOVEMENT FOR MAXIMUM ENERGY GENERATION The PlanetSun photovoltaic system’s solar technology is based on a series of micro-movements able to track the sun from dawn to dusk. 7.00 10.00 12.00 Beghelli technology uses two types of micro-movements: • Rotation on the axis of the pole (azimuthal) • Change of panel tilt (zenithal) 16.00 In order for the sun’s energy to be absorbed in the most efficient manner, the sun must shine on the panel’s cells at a certain angle. This depends on the tilt of the panel. The more it hits the panel at right angles, the more efficient the energy absorption. 19.00 30 DISTRIBUTED GENERATION SYSTEM WITH INTEGRATED INVERTER In order to get the most out of a photovoltaic energy generation system on street lights the transformation of 230 Vca energy produced must take place on the pole itself. The absence of a centralised inverter resolves the problem of the mismatch provoked by differences in local sun intensity. Each set of 3 modules produces energy independently from the others, thus rendering maximum potency. AUTOMATIC NIGHT POSITION The photovoltaic set is mounted on the Beghelli street lights keeping in mind the orientation of the cardinal points. Situations have arisen in which the solar panels interferes with the lighting area of the pole, causing shadows or uncontrolled reflections which could inhibit the correct functioning of the street lights itself. The PlanetSun system can be pointed exactly south without having to worry about a possible interference with the light, thanks to the automated “rest” function of the panels. The lights on the Beghelli street lights are switched-on via a command from an astronomic clock that takes the sun’s movement into account all year round: the command to switch on the lights in the evening activates the “rest” position of the panels command, straightening them out and folding them inwards towards the lamppost on the side opposite from the lamp. At dawn the order is recalled and the panels return to their working position. FULL MAINTENANCE SERVICE: TECHNICAL AND ANTI-THEFT ASSISTANCE Any anomaly that occurs sets off an alarm which is seen in real time by our staff who then activate the assistance service. Solar panels are most prone to theft attempts if they are located in isolated areas. Should this occur, the anti-theft sensor integrated into the system’s electronic components sets off an alarm which, via GSM, appears on the monitors supervised by our staff at the service centre. The client, or his security service, is immediately alerted via text message to his mobile phone. Beghelli technology has designed it for two types of micro- movements: rotating on the street lights axis (azimuthal) and change of panel tilt (zenithal). The integrated inverter transforms the continuous current from the photovoltaic production into 230 Vca. The inverter has an incorporated FHDSSS radio module which puts it in contact with the supervisory module and has a special MPPT function. Even the electronic control of the motor guiding the movement of the photovoltaic panels, is located in the converter.
