POINT OBSTRUCTION LIGHTING POC CUSTOM CONTROLLERS Compliances: FAA Advisory Circular 70/7460-1 ICAO Annex 14, Volume I, Chapter 6 The POC controller provides the control and monitoring functions for an incandescent red obstruction lighting system. During the night, this lighting system warns pilots to stay clear of the obstruction to air navigation when installed in accordance with FAA AC 70/7460-1 and applicable FCC and ICAO rules and recommendations. Together with FAA L-864 PFB flashing red beacons and POL red obstruction lights, the POC is the key to an integrated red obstruction lighting system. One PPC FAA photoelectric controller (included) provides automatic lighting activation at dusk. The FAA requires by law that the owner of a tall structure install a lighting system when it is determined by regulation or study that the structure presents an obstruction to air navigation. The owner is required to monitor the system for failures on a continuing basis. The POC controller provides the control and monitoring functions for a red obstruction lighting system. The most common method of compliance is installation of a system controller with failure alarm relays to provide remote indication. Repairs must be completed immediately or the failure must be reported to the FAA.
