FS John Tsang presented awards to winners of FHKI’s Industry Cares CSR Scheme
Financial Secretary John Tsang presented the Grand Caring Awards of the Federation of
Hong Kong Industries’ (FHKI) Industry Cares Recognition Scheme 2016 to winners of
Enterprise and SME Groups respectively at the 56th FHKI Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Luncheon held today (12 July). Laws Fashion Group Limited and Grandion Industrial Limited
were awarded Grand Caring Awards under the Enterprise Group and SME Group respectively.
Now in its fourth year, the FHKI’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Recognition
Scheme – Industry Cares aims to inculcate the importance of CSR to the industries and
encourage companies to integrate CSR spirit and culture in their daily operations.
FHKI Chairman Prof Daniel M Cheng said, “Many people have wrongly perceived that
only large corporations could have the resources to undertake CSR obligations. However, over
90 per cent of Hong Kong enterprises are small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs). The role of
these SMEs in promoting social progress is also very important. Under the Industry Cares
Recognition Scheme, regardless of the scale of the CSR projects, enterprises that participated
in or held self-organised no less than three projects in one year, will be given recognition.
This year, we have stepped up the promotion of the Scheme with caring sponsorships from
KPMG and Ocean Park and have attracted keen participation from member companies.”
“By sharing the experience of conducting CSR projects or activities, more enterprises
will be encouraged to undertaken CSR projects. In turn, Hong Kong can nurture a CSR culture
in the business community,” Prof Cheng said.
The judging panel of this year’s Scheme was chaired by Dr Joseph Lee, President of
Wofoo Social Enterprises. Other members include Florence Hui, Under Secretary for Home
Affairs; Dr K T Chan, Principle Lecturer of Faculty of Applied Social Science, Hong Kong
Polytechnic University; Jackie Lee, Senior Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility, KPMG;
Cliff Sun, FHKI Honorary President and CSR Committee member; and Arthur Ho, FHKI
Director-General.
