JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Job Family: Pay Program: Prepared/Revised Date: Technician, Electronics/Low Voltage Operations and Maintenance Classified January 2011 FLSA Status: Pay Range: Work Year: Non-Exempt 22 248 days SUMMARY: Test, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electronic systems that are part of District buildings, including, but not limited to, fire alarm, temperature control, security, card access, intercom, clock, sound and scoreboard systems. Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and initiate work orders to repair deficiencies. Perform inspections of new construction and renovation projects. Perform programming, data backup and restoration functions for electronic systems. Maintain and update drawings and documentation for electronic systems. Job Tasks Descriptions Troubleshoot, repair, inspect and install electronic systems that are a part of District buildings, including, but not limited to, fire alarm, temperature control, security, card access, intercom, clock, sound and scoreboard systems, ceiling projectors, and data and phone wiring. Input work order data and labor in to computer tracking system. Repair and maintain kitchen equipment, small appliances, electronic clocks, bell receivers, and signal generators. Recommend repair needs to potentially eliminate ongoing and future repairs. Perform programming, data backup and restoration functions for electronic systems Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and initiate work orders to repair deficiencies. Provide labor and material estimates for electrical needs for small remodel projects. May assist other trades as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Frequency D % of Time 65% D D 5% 5% D W W M M Ongoing TOTAL = 5% 5% 5% 2% 5% 3% 100% EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE: • High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent. • Associate’s degree or two-year college certificate in electronics. • Four years of experience in related trade. Experience as maintenance and repair technician in public sector is preferred. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS: • Criminal background check required for hire. • Valid Colorado driver’s license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record required. • Factory fire alarm, temperature control, security systems and intercom training required within 18 months of hire. • 16 Hour O & M Asbestos and Lead Certifications TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES: • Ability to perform math computations needed in trade. • English language skills. • Personal computer and keyboarding skills. • Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electronic systems, read blueprints, and interpret program software for electronic systems. • Ability to read and interpret applicable codes (NFPA, Life Safety). • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies and building and department procedures. • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
