JOB DESCRIPTOR DATE: For Board Approval 3/09 Board Approved April 2009 Maintenance Personnel - Electrical Electrical Maintenance Personnel are directly responsible to the Maintenance Foreman, performing skilled tasks in the electrical trade for the repair and maintenance of school buildings and other related facilities. Physical demands include frequent stooping, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, pushing, climbing (ladders and lifts), and crawling. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds individually, and heavier weights with assistance. Repetitive motion is required. Employee is exposed to high electrical voltage (up to 480 volts) and amperes. Noise level of work environment is moderate to loud, and requires exposure to inclement weather conditions, dust, dirt, and confined areas. May be exposed to asbestos containing materials. 1. Troubleshoot and repair electrical problems on lights, switches, outlets, motors, motor controls, relays, starters, contactors, VFDs and other electrical components. 2. Troubleshoot and repair low voltage systems such as PA systems, fire alarm systems, media retrieval systems, phone systems, and other low voltage systems. 3. Bend and install conduits, install electrical boxes, services on portable classrooms, lights, distribution systems, pull wires, make taps, run fiber optic and communication wiring, and install other electrical systems as required. 4. Perform preventative maintenance as necessary. 5. Plan, lay out, and order material for electrical assignments. 6. Work with other trades to complete assignments; may work outside of specific trade when needed to accomplish an assignment. 7. Must maintain regular attendance and punctuality. 8. Must comply with state law, national electric code, other applicable codes, and district policies and regulations, and perform duties in full compliance. 9. Perform other such duties as may be required by the Executive Director of Facilities, Maintenance Supervisor, and/or Maintenance Foreman. Qualifications: 1.) Ability to read volt meter, ampere meter, and other type electrical testing meters properly. 2.) Knowledge of electrical trade and maintenance work. 3.) Must be able to use power tools and common hand tools properly and safely. 4.) Must know all safety procedures while working on equipment. 5.) Ability to read blue prints, schematics, and electrical diagrams. 6.) Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and directions. 7.) Skilled and highly skilled personnel are required to accomplish all phases of work independently. 8.) Must be able to work outside normal work hours, when necessary. 9.) Must have valid driver’s license and be able to drive a County vehicle. 10.)
