Industrial Services Staff and Technical Training Preparing a World-class Workforce www.fluor.com Staff and Technical Training Preparing a World-class Workforce Using a systematic process to design, develop, and implement training programs, Industrial Services can provide a complete program for new greenfield production or provide enhancements to existing programs. Our organizational readiness approach makes certain programs meet the training challenges and risks faced by owners. Critical competence is the result. Tailored to Fit Your Needs We prepare workforces to safely and effectively start up, operate, and maintain facilities and equipment safely. Our training programs are typically fit-for-purpose and include the following services: • Duty task analysis • Creation of training specifications for original equipment manufacturers and vendors • Creation of training plans • Preparation of custom process unit training courses • Validation of vendor equipment training courses • Classroom training manuals • Classroom and on-the-job trainers • Train-the-trainer programs The number and type of resources required for the project team is determined by the project scope, timing, number and level of client personnel to be trained, and whether the project is for an existing or new facility. Fluor’s staff also searches for training material resources already available commercially, as opposed to developing a custom product solution. Benefits Reported by our Clients • Start-up achieved with an integrity management culture • Operators gained first-hand experiences by participating in commissioning and start-up activities • Maintenance technicians participated in setting equipment baselines, reviewing maintenance job plans, and were ready for start-up on schedule • Operations and maintenance training program was key to facility starting up six weeks early with an on-specification product Raising the Bar Industrial Services was initially asked to asses the existing training plan for the BP Whiting Refinery Modernization Project (WRMP) to make sure all OSHA training requirements were addressed prior to start-up and commissioning. In the report that followed, gaps were identified, and we were contracted to help develop training material for the 1,200 pieces of equipment identified as new, unique, or different to address those gaps. The project came in ahead of schedule and under budget. In the words of a senior BP manager, it generated a set of training deliverables that “raised the bar for future training initiatives at BP Whiting.” Staff and Technical Training Preparing a World-class Workforce Industrial Services’ dynamic, systematic approach to training program development is designed to coordinate the interaction of all team members and subject matter experts in the development of materials within content, quality, schedule, and budgetary parameters.
