SPI’s expanded Echo Series is not a repetition, but an evolution. Adding fluorescent
lamping to metal halide and quartz-halogen. Moving outside with new weather-resistant
housings. Integrating ballast options to simplify form. And offering a palette of sizes,
housings and mounting methods that make Echo suitable for numerous applications,
blending functional design with superior performance — again. And again and again.

HID ballasts may hum slightly due to the magnetic action in the core
and coil assembly. This hum may be amplified by the resonant qualities
of its surroundings such as ceiling, walls, floors or furnishings. Careful
consideration of these components within the lighting design will ensure
the quietest installation possible. For “library quiet” installations, remote
mount ballast or please consult factory.

MRI Construction - MRI
Echo offers five diameters, ranging from 3" to 161/2", in solid or perforated
metal or an extruded aluminum housing that allows the design to be carried
outside. The addition of decorative ShapesTM or custom-made shrouds
enables Echo to compliment any environment.
Echo’s highly efficient, adjustable luminaires project a controlled pattern of
light across a horizontal or vertical surface. Versatility is Echo’s hallmark.
The optical systems incorporate the latest in lamp technology, including
Echo offers a variety of housing, optical and ballast options.

UNIQUE FEATURES
2
Scoop ShapesTM compliment the architectural lines of this hallway
Echo can be wall, ceiling, pendant or pier-mounted, in a full range of
applications. Sizes .5, 1 and 1.5 offer compact, unobtrusive lighting for
small to medium spaces with lower ceilings - offices, conference rooms,
corridors, lobbies and coves. Size 2 is ideal for larger, high-ceiling spaces
such as atriums, gymnasiums, natatoriums, libraries, open offices and
lobbies. Size 3 is designed for even larger spaces: malls, atriums and
transportation and sports facilities.
Single and multiple lamp configurations suit Echo to a variety
of lighting techniques. From accent to ambient lighting, Echo
offers the opportunity to make an architectural statement with
high-quality illumination.
■
1
ECHO ■ Components
The key to Echo’s consistent performance lies in the combination of lamp type,
optical designs and lens options. Each reflector is designed around specific
lamps and precision-formed from prefinished reflective material, for
high-quality illumination — indirect or direct, inside or out.
3
Size 3 Echo fixtures provide even illumination and virtually no shadows in this training area
The HID and quartz asymmetric
optical combines a premium 95%
reflective hammertone material
with a clear lamp to deliver high
lumen output with no striations.
Fluorescent symmetric and
asymmetric reflectors are formed
from prefinished low iridescent
specular aluminum, used with
compact or linear fluorescent lamps
to achieve up to 85% efficiency.
Integral and remote ballasting are available. The optical system and/or
ballast compartment are mounted between two die-cast aluminum end caps
and protected by the housing. This arrangement promotes safe, cool
operation and simplifies fixture installation and design.
Echo offers three standard housing options in solid or perforated metal and
extruded aluminum. The perforated housing, an SPI innovation, adds
ventilation in higher ambient temperatures and renders a subtle sparkle of light
to give the exposed surface an architectural presence. Extruded aluminum
housings, in several standard as well as custom lengths up to eight feet,
are ideal for wet location or MRI applications.
The center mounting point on Echo’s
end cap allows the fixture to be
rotated and precisely adjusted.
Indoor fixtures can be painted any
of SPI’s standard polyester powder
coat finishes. Wet location fixtures
are available in most of our standard
finishes. Custom matched colors are
available; please consult factory.

Special Applications
4
Semi-recessed Echos accent
artwork in an office space
While Echo is appropriate wherever a uniform wash
of light is desired, the expanded series presents
opportunities in special applications. Sizes .5 and 1.5
fixtures introduce compact and linear fluorescent lamps
in three and six-inch diameter housings that provides
efficient, uniform wall-washing illumination for corridors,
offices, conference rooms, merchandise displays and
galleries.
The extruded aluminum housing gives Echo the
structural integrity and corrosion resistance for wet
locations, carrying the lighting design from inside to outside. Integral components make for a simple
design and easy installation. Gasketing between the lens and housing offers excellent compression
resistance, memory retention and sealing capability. The aluminum frame of the HID and quartz
glass lens assembly is held secure by stainless steel hardware. Fluorescent fixtures have a unique
“snap tight” acrylic lens. All Echo .5, 1.5 and 2 units with the “WL” accessory are UL Listed for US
and Canadian wet location requirements.
5
Wet location lens detail
Echos are column-mounted with custom brackets in this rotunda
Virtually any mounting variation can be
accommodated simply by changing the
position of Echo’s yoke bracket, or
by using custom brackets for special
applications such as column or corner
mounting. With ceiling, wall or pier
mounting, light can be directed in a
controlled pattern to bring out the
texture of a wall, highlight a work of art,
accentuate a domed or highly detailed
ceiling... and comfortably illuminate the
space below.

ECHO 1, 1.5 and 2 ■ ECR / EDR SR and ECI / EDI SR
The semi-recessed wall wash series projects a controlled pattern of light to
uniformly illuminate a wall from ceiling to floor. Echo’s adjustable fixture
system eliminates scalloping, hot spots and striations while allowing the
designer to paint luminous planes and enhance perimeter surfaces.
