Job Title: Human Resources Specialist
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Director of Human Resources and Community Engagement
Job Summary/Objective: The incumbent is responsible for providing critical,
confidential, and professional administrative support to the Human Resources
Department. Responsibilities include providing exemplary employee and student
customer service, and support of specific HR functions including day to day
operations, data entry, payroll, file maintenance, reports,
coordination/communication of meetings, training, and conferences.
Position Type/Expected Work Hours: Part Time: 20-25 hours per week

Essential Responsibilities:

Assist Human Resources Director and staff with day to day execution of
benefits, training, payroll, risk mitigation, employee engagement, and overall
administrative tasks.
Manage and provide exemplary service to visitors of HR office.
Execute clerical duties including but not limited to accurate reporting, filing,
payroll entry, data reconciliation, faxing, scheduling.
Conduct new hire orientation and complete applicable new hire paperwork.
Track position changes such as new hires, terminations etc. and record data
on spreadsheets; creating and disseminating appropriate reporting.
Assist with training and recruitment programs such as new employee
orientation, supervisory orientation, job fairs, miscellaneous other programs
as well as preparing packets and training materials for distribution
Ensure compliance with all international, state, and federal discrimination
and employment regulations.

Bachelor’s degree in a related human resources/organizational development
field
Prior experience supporting HR function, preferably 5 years
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Prior knowledge of Banner HRIS is highly desirable
Strong organizational skills and track record of sound judgement
Strong analytical and financial acumen with the ability to think strategically
Focus on accuracy and attention to detail is evident in work products
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, act with urgency, make
decisions, and elevate issues as appropriate
Positive and approachable interpersonal style, able to win trust among coworkers
Commitment to the long-term sustainability of the College
Preferred Qualifications:

Higher education experience
SHRM or HRCI certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP)
Work Environment: Office environment
Physical Demands:
Bending, sitting, standing, lifting of 5 pounds
Travel: As needed for professional development
