In 1972, Communications Supply Corporation opened its doors
as an independent distributor in New England servicing the
telecommunications industry.
Over the next several years CSC’s founder Nick Ohnell expanded the
company beyond the New England market, by investing in start-up
distribution operations throughout the United States. His passion for
the industry and his business philosophy toward customers and
suppliers alike became guiding principles for the growth of CSC as a
regional telecom distributor:

By 1996, CSC grew to seven sales offices and warehouses. Each
office was managed independently, fostering local decision-making that
ensured superior customer service to respective regions.
CSC’s business strengths, philosophy and culture became highly visible

December of 1996, a large New York-based Capital Investment Group
acquired CSC and appointed Steven J. Riordan as President and CEO.
The goal of this acquisition was to leverage CSC’s successful business
model and build a nationwide distribution network that would provide
whole order delivery anywhere within the United States within 24
hours.

Wall cabinets provide added physical securit y for network equipment in smaller networks. Wall cabinets can also be used as
Telecommunications Enclosures outside of traditional Telecommunications Room. Extend the reach of horizontal cable by moving t he backbone
closer to an isolated group of users.

Racks are used in most networks to support cross- connects in Telecommunications Rooms and Equipment Rooms. CPI offers two-post and
four-post rack solutions. Two-Post Racks are ideal for patch panels and other termination hardware. Four-Post Racks provide additional load
bearing capacity and added stability and physical protection for network electronics.

Wall racks provide support for smaller networks, especially w here storage space is limited. Use wall racks w hen addit ional securit y is not
required for equipment. Two st yles are available. Fixed wall racks provide excellent load bearing capacit y. Swing Gate Racks provide easy

Zone Enclosures fit under raised floors or above drop ceilings. They are accessed through hinged doors or use the floor t ile as a cover. Zone
Enclosures creat e a secure architectural space for active cross-connects, consolidation points or Wireless Access Points (wireless
transmitter/receivers) outside of the traditional Telecommunications Room.

Cable Management are accessories that can be added to two-post or four- post racks (page 8) to provide a pathway for premise cables and
patch cords. Use cabling sections next to the racks and horizontal managers or jumper trays in between patch panels and network switches.
Cable Management controls cable radius at transitions. It also makes maintenance easier by keeping cables organized.

Cable Runway is used overhead to provide a pathway for premise cable in Telecommunications and Equipment Rooms between the wall and
the racks. Use fabricated bends to provide a smooth, curved pathway for cables. Support runway every 5' of span. Elevate runway 3" to 6"
above racks and cabinets. Add Radius Drops, Retaining Post and End Caps to protect cables.

A single wall outlet or UPS will normally support several pieces of network or computer/data storage equipment. Distribute power on racks or
wit hin cabinets with rack-mount or vertical power strips. Choose from 15-amp, 20-amp or 30-amp models with or without surge prot ect ion
