The ideal candidate will hold an engineering degree and advanced technical experience to perform necessary responsibilities and to contribute to the successful execution of Static Var Compensators (SVC’s) and Series Capacitors (SC’s) tenders and projects, customer satisfaction, cost forecasting and control, scheduling, quality and performance. This role will also have the opportunity to conduct complex systems analysis and function as a technical consultant to customers in the exploration and presentation of solutions to the market. • Be responsible for developing conceptual electrical designs for Static Var Compensators (SVC’s) and Series Capacitors (SC’s) proposals/tenders based on technical specifications and commercial requirements to ensure we have economical and technical solutions satisfying the customer needs. You’ll work as part of our Power Grids team, which serves utility, industrial, and commercial customers with products and services to help distribute electricity efficiently and reliably, maintain power quality, and control and manage electrical networks. • Hold technical discussions with customers related to proposed solutions and design concepts. Typical duties include but are not limited to the following: • Maintain close contact with customers and project participants to identify and resolve issues of mutual concern 1 • Perform the electrical design for projects based on technical specifications and commercial contractual requirements to facilitate the completion of projects and provision of service within cost, timescale, technical and quality targets and customer satisfaction. • Provide all the deliverables associated to the electrical design role in FACTS projects such as: reports, drawings etc. • Play key role in the design reviews and approvals with customers. Attend customer meetings as required. • Supervise, plan and actively participate in the Factory Acceptance Test and Site Acceptance Test of the Electrical Plant with customer and/or other ABB units. • Coordinate the purchase of panels, auxiliary systems and other items of the electrical design during the project execution. • Maintain close contact with customers and project participants to identify and resolve issues of mutual concern and to seek opportunities for additional business. Attend customer meetings as required. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience on Engineering, Procurement and Construction projects • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical subjects to groups of technicians and/or engineers. • Have the ability to clearly communicate with ABB and Customer personnel in order to successfully collaborate, coordinate, and resolve project related activities and issues. Problems involve recognizing situations and applying appropriate concepts to solve problems that are usually short-term in nature. • Excellent technical English writing and verbal skills • Analyze sub-contractor bid responses for inconsistencies, oversights, thoroughness and accuracy • Lead sub-contractor bid reviews in partnership with Supply Chain Management • Provide cost recommendations to the proposal team based on the bid review analysis • Notify the Engineering Manager and the Project Managers of any difficulties encountered in the engineering and design that may adversely impact safety, reliability, quality, cost, or schedule of the ABB project deliverables, and provide recommendations for solutions. • Provide construction, installation & commissioning support • Effective in teamwork, proactive willingness to support coworkers when needed and open to input and ideas of others • Ability to manage multiple projects and a desire to deliver to customers a quality, completed project that meets or exceeds the customer’s expectations. • Desire to learn and continuously increase competences and skills. •One year of experience with Electrical CAD software such as Autocad or e3. • Travel is required; up to 30% both domestic and international. • Basic knowledge of applicable American Nation Standards Institute (ANSI)/Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers(IEEE) standards.
