Management of Intellectual Property Rights and Strategy (MIPS 2016) 3rd International Conference on Management of Intellectual Property Rights and Strategy (MIPS 2016) was held at National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) Mumbai from 15-16 July 2016. The conference was jointly organized by MHRD IPR Chair, IIT Bombay and NITIE Mumbai The theme of the conference was IP for Development: The Emerging Paradigm Over a period of 3 days various keynotes, panel discussion, papers, poster and workshop were centered on sub theme of the conference, driving nation’s development through IP ecosystem. The inaugural address for the conference was given by Shri. O.P. Gupta, Controller General of Patents Designs and Trademarks, Government of India. The key take ways from the talk was on process and excellence in operation of patent evaluation undertaken by government. Rajeev Srinivasan, Member, National Think Tank Policy, Government of India address the audience by stating the capabilities of Indians to Innovative and how IP can help to maintain the edge in businesses in this highly competitive scenario. Three panel discussion on following topics were talk in length during the conference Driving nation’s competitiveness – Make in India and IP strategy for ecosystem development Digital India – Role of IP in digital competitiveness Negotiating India’s IP policy Three keynotes on issues surrounding IP and its role in countries development agenda was also discussed India’s IP and Economy Policy by Prof. A Damodaran, IIM- Bangalore Biological Resources, Agriculture, Intellectual Property and Development: From Biodiversity to Bio economy by Dr. S Mauria from Indian Council for Agricultural Research Role of IP in Electronic and Information Technology industry by Dr. A K Garg, Add. Commissioner, DeiTY, Govt. of India. In total 30 papers were presented ranging across MELT (Management, Economics, Legal and Technology) areas.
