About this course
Skid Steer Loader (Bobcat) training would be delivered to you on your own
site; you would need to supply the machine/equipment. Training can be
delivered in a working environment. The trainer will incorporate practical
tasks, meaning candidates are able to undertake training on jobs they are
required to complete in their normal working day.

This course qualifies you to operate any skid steer loader from any
manufacturer. Operate on any site in the UK with permission of the person
responsible for site H & S. Use any attachment for which you receive training.
It does not qualify you to instruct others in the use of skid steer loaders.
Supervise anyone who has not received formal training and qualification in
the use of skid steer loaders

Candidates per course
Maximum of 3 delegates per day.
Duration
Course duration is dependent upon delegate numbers and experience.
There is no minimum number of delegates required for training to

The client is responsible for supplying all equipment and PPE
Please be sure that the facilities available on site are suitable for training.
Basic comfort and welfare facilities must also be provided.
Minimum PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
Safety Footwear
All delegates must wear safety footwear for the
duration of practical training. Delegates will not
be allowed to participate in training without
safety footwear.
Hi viz coat, hard hat
Must be available for the practical assessment.
Only one of each item need be available and can
be rotated between delegates as they are only
required during the practical assessment.

Equipment Requirements
Skid Steer Loader
In good serviceable condition
Loads/Materials
Sufficient that a load can be attached and lifted. Examples include Webbing Slings, Chain Slings, Round Slings,
Wire Rope Slings, Shackles, Eye Bolts, Lifting Frames/
Spreader Beams etc.
Available on request, all lifting tackle must have a current
and in date certificate of inspection. This inspection
should adhere to the Lifting Operations and Lifting
Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER)
Practical Training area For all vehicle based operator/instructor training, a suitable manoeuvring area should be provided. As a rule of
thumb, this area should be large enough that the vehicle
used for training can comfortably perform a figure of 8
manoeuvre.
While training is in progress, access to this area should be
restricted to the instructor and trainees. Where practicable, training areas should be sheltered from adverse
weather conditions
Office/Classroom/
Cabin
A well-lit and suitably heated closed door environment to
conduct theory training. Tables and chairs to accommodate all learners and the trainer assessor, this must include writing space for all learners. A screen and projector
is desirable but not essential.
