FINNISH BUSINESS
DELEGATION
1
Message from
Mr. Matti Anttonen
Deputy Minister for Foreign Trade,
Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland
Great interest among Finnish companies for doing business in the
Czech Republic and Slovakia
I am very pleased to have the opportunity to lead a Team Finland visit
to Slovakia and the Czech Republic. This trade mission is very timely.
Finland’s political relations to both countries are excellent both on
the bilateral as well as on the EU level. However, there is plenty of
room to strengthen our ties in the fields of economy and trade. There
are lots of promising opportunities for boosting these ties, and our
companies share the same interest in exploring new opportunities
and technologies.
I am very happy to introduce you to the excellent business delegation
I have the privilege to bring along to Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
We have a broad and diverse delegation consisting of representatives
from the Finnish ICT, cleantech and machinery sectors as well as other
fields. The visit provides and ample opportunity for authorities and
companies to exchange new ideas, to establish modern networks, and
strengthen already existing ties.
Overall, the range of Finnish trade and investments has diversified.
Finland has developed from a natural resource-exporting country to
a technology-intensive, knowledge based economy. Our high level of
education, environmental standards, design and R&D investment have
helped to move the Finnish private sector to the forefront of adopting
new technologies and fostering a culture of innovation.
This Team Finland visit combines both traditional and newer fields of
business, as the industry and machinery sectors are joined by clean
technologies, bio-economy, telecommunications and digital services.
2
I am also happy to note that our delegation consists of both large and
small companies; those who already have a presence in the region,
and those that are now looking to establish activities in the Czech
Republic and Slovakia.
This visit underlines the importance Finland attaches to its relationship
with the Czech Republic and Slovakia also in the future. By bringing
together Finnish companies and organizations with their Czech and
Slovakian counterparts, I am sure we will find plenty of new ground
for further strengthening our business and trade relations for the years
ahead.
I am looking forward to very interesting and fruitful days in the Czech
Republic and Slovakia.

Team Finland
The Team Finland network promotes Finland’s external economic
relations, the internationaliation of Finnish businesses, Finland’s brand
abroad and investments to Finland. The network aims to bring all
key authorities and organisations under one umbrella, improve the
efficiency of their cooperation, and provide customers with an easy
access to a wide range of services.
The Team Finland network consists of more than 70 local teams
around the world and brings together all Finnish authorities, publicly
funded organisations and other key parties with ties to Finland. At
home, the core members of the Team Finland network are the Ministry
of Employment and the Economy, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs
and the Ministry of Education and Culture - together with agencies
operating under their guidance. A network of regional contact persons
has also been set up at the national level.
The steering of the Team Finland network takes place at the Prime
Minister’s Office. The network’s strategic priorities are set by the
Steering Group for Finland’s External Economic Relations, chaired by
Prime Minister Alexander Stubb. The priorities are reviewed every year
and adopted by the Government.
