Snap-Grip® is a commercial-grade, flame-retardant, PVC-coated Polyester fabric
material that utilizes a unique Nylon snap button closure system. The snap button design
will stay closed in high flexing applications, yet it is easy to close and open as required.
Just press the buttons closed for a secure covering for any wire or cable bundle. Since
no tooling is required for installation, Snap-Grip® is ideal for general cable management
applications in office or industrial locations where multiple wires or cables penetrate
cabinets, equipment housings or internal wiring of appliances. The separation between
the snaps allows for easy cable breakouts and transitions within a wire harness. Also
available with SH1 Aluminum foil EMI shield with a 15 AWG Tin/Copper drain wire that
provides good EMI shielding performance at an economical price.

Z-Wrap® is an economical, lightweight wrap-around jacket system for round, flat or
rectangular cables utilizing Zippertubing’s type PVL-10 or DVH-20 materials and a
pressure-sensitive adhesive closure. A strip of high-strength, specially formulated
Acrylic adhesive is bonded to one edge to provide a secure and flexible closure. The
closure allows installation without the need for secondary tooling on assemblies that
do not require re-entry and where a “pull-thru” jacket is undesirable. The thin adhesive
closure allows for extremely tight cable bends since the seam area is very thin and
highly flexible. The reinforced construction of Zippertubing’s coated fabric materials
provide good wear resistance combined with high tear strength. Z-Wrap® is ideal for
discrete wires, wire harnesses, hoses, and other applications where flexibility, strength
and abrasion protection is needed. Custom materials, sizes and colors are available.

ZT-Shield™ is a combination of Zippertubing’s fire-retardant Polyurethane ZT-Tape®
stagger bonded to a layer of Z-3250-CN or Z-7200-C shielding fabrics with an electrically
conductive adhesive backing. When spirally wrapped around electrical wires or other
items using a 50% overlap technique, this product provides a finished installation with
excellent electromagnetic shielding characteristics. The flame-retardant Polyurethane
insulation jacket also provides good dielectric strength. This tape eliminates the need to
go back over a shielded assembly a second time to apply a protective dielectric insulator.
ZT-Shield™ is available in multiple widths to accommodate most wire harness diameters.
This product line has an operational temperature range of -45 to 107°C depending on the
type of shielding that is used.

Zippertubing’s Moored Cable Fairings are designed to significantly reduce the vibration,
noise and drag created by water movement across the tether cable of a moored buoy.
The fairing allows underwater instrumentation associated with moored platforms to
work to their full potential. Our materials offer good wear resistance, high tear strength,
flexibility, oil and hydrocarbon resistance in addition to being impervious to salt water.
Zippertubing’s Moored Cable Fairings’ long lengths and flexibility allows for an easy
installation and is the answer to many tethered cable problems.

Zippertubing’s Towed Cable Fairings are designed to significantly reduce the vibration,
acoustic noise and drag created by water movement across a towed fish cable. The
single-row fin design improves the hydrodynamic flow characteristics across the cable,
reducing vibration and “strumming” because each independent, flexible fin is free to
assume the most favorable flow orientation. In addition, where multiple cables are used
the fairing bundles all into a single, streamlined package for easier handling and even
greater drag reduction. Our Towed Cable Fairings feature a 20-mil wall jacket and the
Z-Track® closure system and is intended for use under moderate sea conditions and
tow speeds up to 5 knots. The material offers good wear resistance, high tear strength,
flexibility, oil and hydrocarbon resistance in addition to being impervious to salt water.

What is Electro-Magnetic Interference?
Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) is an electrical noise which creates a disturbance or
undesired response in one or more circuits, pieces of equipment, or systems. EMI is a
generalization of an older term, radio-frequency interference (RFI). Many types of electrical
circuits are susceptible to EMI/RFI and must be shielded to ensure proper performance.
To protect the performance of your circuit, electromagnetic emissions from commercial
equipment must not exceed levels set by the FCC and other standards such as CE. Further
standards set EMI levels to which electronic equipment must itself be immune.
What is EMI Shielding?
Shielding is the use of materials to reduce radiated EMI by reflection and/or absorption. Shielding
should be placed where it best causes an abrupt discontinuity in the path of electromagnetic waves.
Shielding effectiveness and performance is a function of the properties and configuration of the
shielding materials, the frequency and the distance from the source to the shield.
How can Zippertubing Help?
Zippertubing’s “shielded” products are a quick, effective and economical way to solve many interference problems which require
shielding to reduce the effects of EMI/RFI - especially in wire and cable applications. Most standard Zippertubing jacket materials
can be combined with a choice of shielding system to meet or exceed almost any requirement. All Zippertubing shielding includes a
patented 360° shielding and grounding construction. A tinned-copper wire braid provides a positive seal around the cable and allows
easy ground termination.
Zippertubing can be used to control excessive emissions from transmitters or the incidental radiation from cables and wiring cable
harnesses used to interconnect digital computers or data processing equipment, so they can comply with FCC, VDE, MIL-I-461-B and/
or TEMPEST requirements. It can also be used to protect sensitive receiving or detection equipment cables from impulse noise such
as electrostatic discharge, EMP or lightning, and is effective in reducing capacitive and inductive crosstalk between adjacent cables.
Where Can I Use Shielding?
Existing Installations
Shielding is the use of materials to
reduce radiated EMI by reflection and/
or absorption. Shielding should be
placed where it best causes an abrupt
discontinuity in the path of electromagnetic
waves. Shielding effectiveness and
performance is a function of the properties
and configuration of the shielding
materials, the frequency and the distance
from the source to the shield.
Updating Equipment
New requirements are imposed on
equipment already designed or already
being manufactured due to the newly
adopted CE mark required for products
being delivered to the European market.
Zippertubing can solve problems of this
nature, whether for a quick fix, retrofits in
the field, or upgrading existing products
as a design technique for cost sensitive
commercial equipment. It is simply slipped
around the cable or harness and “zipped”
closed. Termination of the shield at one
or both ends as dictated by the system’s
requirements completes the job.
P (480) 285-3990
New Designs
Zippertubing offers designers a proven
solution to both emission and susceptibility
cable containment. The measured
performance of Zippertubing’s Shielding
with quality jacket material has superior
performance as compared to standard
tin-plated copper braid shields. This
makes Zippertubing the preferred choice
during conceptual design. The special
Zippertubing technique of attaching the
shielding to the jacket material allows
cables flexibility, with better shielding
performance than standard mylar/foil
cables.
