DENSO’s ‘Get Inside’
tour a success
Having first hit the road on October 20th, DENSO’s ‘Get Inside’ Roadshow in The Netherlands
completes its successful five-week tour.
From 20th October until 21st November
2014, DENSO’s promotional teams toured
The Netherlands from Utrecht to Maastricht
and Rotterdam to Hengelo, visiting garages
to raise awareness of the DENSO brand
and its aftermarket product ranges and
to introduce the multi-partner Automotive
Diamonds loyalty programme.
The Roadshow saw a three-strong DENSO
promotional team driving stickered,
DENSO-liveried cars visit 1,340 garages,
as part of a campaign to highlight the
extensive selection of advanced OE quality
DENSO parts ranges that are now available
to Dutch garages and to generate garages’
interest. The team visited 675 independent
garages as well as 665 garage customers
from a selection of wholesalers in
partnership with their sales representatives.
During the tour, the promoters signed up
350 garages to participate in the exciting,
multi-brand Automotive Diamonds
customer loyalty programme, of which
DENSO Aftermarket is a member.
Informative literature given to each garage
helped to further share essential DENSO
product knowledge, as well as boosting
interest in the brand. The Roadshow
culminated at the TC/APS trade event
Automotive Huisbeurs on 27th and 28th
November, where the three garages that
made the highest value of DENSO parts
purchases during the five week Roadshow
period were awarded prizes on the DENSO
booth.
Mario Gundlach, Regional Manager
Export for DENSO Aftermarket, said: “We
are extremely pleased with the response
the ‘Get Inside’ Roadshow has generated.
There has been an overwhelmingly positive
> DENSO’s ‘Get Inside’ Roadshow promotional team hit the road .
reaction by garages to our promoters’
visits. The majority of garages were
extremely keen to learn more about
DENSO products, and felt they benefitted
from further knowledge of the DENSO
brand and its OE quality products. We
look forward to developing exciting new
relationships as well as building on those
we already have.”
DENSO set up a Facebook page where
the promotional team posted photos
from their Roadshow visits – ranging
from the people they met, to the
cars they saw, and anything fun that
happened along the way!

High quality IRIDIUM TOUGH
Spark Plugs for LPG
®
Vehicles with LPG engines are becoming increasingly popular. As a result, more and more
drivers are looking for spark plugs that meet the full requirements of LPG engines. DENSO’s
LPG IRIDIUM TOUGH® Spark Plugs offer the solution.
Based on DENSO’s patented OE
technology, LPG IRIDIUM TOUGH® Spark
Plugs from DENSO Aftermarket meet the
complete requirements of gas powered
engines. Offering a car parc coverage of
93%, they are also competitively priced,
making them the ‘best-in-market’ choice.
DENSO LPG IRIDIUM TOUGH® Spark Plugs
are the optimal solution for gas powered
(LPG) engines for two main reasons. Firstly,
thanks to a unique, ultra-fine iridium central
electrode with the world´s smallest diameter
of only 0.4mm, and ground electrode with
platinum tip, the spark plugs guarantee
excellent ignitability without the need for
a higher voltage. This means that DENSO
LPG IRIDIUM TOUGH® Spark Plugs offer
enhanced performance compared to spark
plugs offered by other brands with a 0.6mm
electrode. Secondly, an iridium alloy and
platinum tip offer maximum durability for
adverse, gas powered conditions, as these
materials have a high melting point and can
be operated even at very high temperatures.
> 0.4 mm iridium tip: Unique to DENSO.
What’s important about spark
plugs for LPG engines
World-leading technology direct
to the aftermarket
Combustion of an air-gas mixture differs
from combustion of an air-fuel mixture
because:
• An air-gas mixture requires a much
higher ignition voltage for combustion
than an air-fuel mixture. However, this
higher applied voltage can damage the
ignition coil, or result in misfiring and
poor drivability.
• Combustion temperatures in LPG
engines are higher than in petrol engines.
DENSO’s R&D expertise, coupled with
close links to top level motorsports, enable
DENSO to pioneer vital innovations that
are passed on to aftermarket customers
in DENSO Aftermarket’s LPG IRIDIUM
TOUGH® ranges.
Benefits at a glance
DENSO Aftermarket’s LPG IRIDIUM TOUGH® Spark Plugs
> Longer lifetime
Whilst the lifetime of standard spark plugs is getting shorter, DENSO’s IRIDIUM
TOUGH® Spark Plugs offer longer durability thanks to the use of premium iridium
and platinum alloys – allowing normal vehicle service intervals.
> Lower fuel consumption and reduced emissions
Their excellent combustion capability improves engine efficiency and leads to
5% lower fuel consumption, as well as reducing pollution levels in the exhaust
emissions.
> DENSO’s LPG IRIDIUM TOUGH® Spark Plugs:
delivering 93% car parc coverage.
> Higher ignition reliability and improved acceleration
The 0.4 mm, ultra-thin patented tip needs a 3-5 kV lower ignition voltage.
The conical ground electrode increases ignition performance and allows uniform
combustion. This results in less misfiring, higher engine performance and
improved throttle response.

Showcasing DENSO
to its export markets
DENSO Aftermarket’s Export teams have had an exceptionally busy few months, exhibiting
at trade shows that each provided the ideal stage to showcase a raft of programme
expansions, development plans and major brand partnerships.
Throughout October and November, DENSO
Aftermarket exhibited at several key trade shows

DENSO Lambda Sensors:
Controlling emissions &
maximising performance
11
Critical in reducing
environmentally harmful
engine emissions,
demand for replacement
Lambda (O2) Sensors
is increasing, explains
Stefan Verhoef, DENSO
Product Manager
Lambda Sensors, at
leading parts provider
DENSO Aftermarket.
EU ‘Euro’ legislation – the latest being
Euro 6 – has imposed ever-stricter
emissions caps on both diesel and
petrol cars, resulting in a dramatic
increase in demand for lambda
sensors, which maintain and monitor
the optimal fuel mixture. Most modern
petrol cars already feature two OE-fit
lambda sensors, positioned pre- and
post-catalytic converter; and by 2015
it is expected that many will feature
even more – representing a total
European market population of more
than 350 million. Lambda sensors are
now also being fitted to diesel cars as
Original Equipment.
Programme at a glance
• 412 OEM specification part numbers and
5,394 applications covering more than 68%
of the European car parc (and growing)
• Heated and unheated lambda sensors
(switching type), A/F sensors (linear type),
Lean Burn sensors and Titania sensors; both
direct fit and universal
• Regulating sensors (fitted before the catalyst)
and diagnostic sensors (fitted after the
catalyst)
• Laser welded and inspected at multiple
checkpoints to ensure all characteristics
accurately match OE specifications, in
order to deliver long-term reliability and high
performance
> DENSO Lambda Sensor.
DENSO Newsletter: Your update on what’s new from DENSO Aftermarket Sales
Did you know?
Many of the types of lambda sensors offered
as part of the IAM programme are unique to
DENSO and not offered by other major brands.
For example DENSO was the first company
to make the lambda sensor a quantitative
measurable sensor ensuring it can not only
sense if the air/fuel mixture is too lean or too
rich, but also by how much. This development
was a huge step forward helping ECUs
respond and anticipate much more accurately,
leading to improvements in fuel economy and
lower pollution levels.
> DENSO has been manufacturing lambda sensors since 1977.
DENSO also recommends changing lambda sensors as often
as specified by the vehicle manufacturer. Even if they are still
functioning, they should still be checked for efficiency at every
vehicle service, as they can become less sensitive when clogged.
An engine that’s old or showing signs of excessive oil consumption
will also need the sensors changed at shorter intervals.
High demand, on-going changes in emissions regulations and an
even greater need for efficiency means that there is huge value
sales potential for garages, wholesalers and distributors - making
it more important than ever to make sure you stay abreast of the
latest technologies, and choose only the most reliable parts from an
OE supplier.
Leading the way
DENSO has been manufacturing lambda sensors since 1977,
building up a heritage of expertise and leading the way in advanced
technology. As one of the world’s foremost manufacturers of original
vehicle parts and systems, DENSO’s original Lambdas are selected
by a number of leading marques including Toyota, Honda, Jaguar,
Volvo, Mazda, Subaru, Land Rover, Daimler Chrysler, General
Motors and Opel/Vauxhall. Aftermarket customers can access these
same pioneering OE technologies through DENSO’s replacement
Lambda Sensors programme, which includes Unheated and Heated
sensors (switching type) in planar and thimble types, A/F (linear
type), Lean Burn and Titania sensors.
