Looking Ahead: On October 30 –
St. Paul Parish and Mission
Churches will hold a "Parish/Mission
Get-together." On that weekend, we
will have ONE mass at 11am on
Sunday at the Hwy. 441 Church in
Douglas. Food and games will follow
in the afternoon. More info to come.
St. Paul’s CCD/Religious Education
begins this Sunday. Students in K-6
plus Confirmation students will meet
after Mass.

Violated by Sweeping HHS
Contraceptive Mandate
The U. S. Council of Catholic Bishops
(USCCB) is presenting a call-to-action
regarding the implementation of the 2010
Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (the
new health care reform law), which requires
almost all private health plans to cover
contraception and sterilization as “preventive
services” for women. The mandate even forces
individuals and groups with religious or moral
objections to purchase and provide such
coverage if they are to receive or provide
health coverage at all. This poses an
unprecedented threat to individual and
institutional religious freedom.
Please send an e-mail message (by Sept. 30) to
HHS by visiting www.usccb.org/conscience.
Once you send your comments to HHS, you
will be automatically invited to send a message
to your elected representatives in Congress,
urging them to support the Respect for Rights
of Conscience Act (H.R. 1179/S. 1467) to
ensure that such federal mandates do not
violate Americans’ moral and religious
convictions.
"Son, go out and work in the vineyard
today." (Matthew 21:28)
God does not just invite us to do His work. He
clearly commands us, "Go out and work in the
vineyard." How can we work in God's vineyard
when we have job and family responsibilities?
We can follow God's command through prayer,
sharing some of our talents in parish ministry
and donating some of the income we make at
our jobs to support God's work in the world.

“Hijo, hoy tienes que ir a trabajar a la viña.”
(Mateo 21:28)
Dios no solo nos invita a hacer su trabajo. Dios
claramente nos ordena, “Vallan y trabajen en la
viña.” Como podemos trabajar en la viña del
Señor cuando tenemos responsabilidad con
nuestro trabajo y familias? Nosotros podemos
seguir la orden que Dios nos ha dado en la
compartiendo nuestros talentos y dinero que
Dios nos ha dado para apoyar las necesidades
del mundo.
Cómo Conocer la
Voluntad de Dios
Tu único alimento: «la voluntad del Padre».,
con ella debes vivir y crecer, con ella has de
actuar. La voluntad del Padre es el alimento
que da fuerzas a tu alegría y a tu existencia.
Fuera de ella, sólo encontrarás la muerte (C. E
995). Cuenta el teólogo alemán Taulero: «En
un momento dado, yo buscaba dar una
definición de la voluntad de Dios. Pero en
vano. Erraba por los jardines, entraba en las
iglesias, investigaba en las bibliotecas, pero
nada. »Un día, al salir de la iglesia, donde
acababa de estar rezando, encontré a un
anciano que pedía limosna a la puerta y le dije:
- Buenos días, señor. Y le di una limosna. Pero
el anciano me replicó: - Todos los días son
buenos. »Me detuve, extrañado: - ¿Pero cómo
puede usted decir eso en el estado en que se
encuentra, que todos los días son buenos?
- Sí, señor. Yo hago la voluntad de Dios. Si él
quiere que llueva, yo lo quiero también. Si
quiere que haga buen tiempo, yo estoy de
acuerdo. Si él quiere que yo sufra, lo acepto.
Cuando era joven, trabajaba. Ahora que soy
viejo, gracias a la bondad de la gente puedo
seguir viviendo. Por eso, todos los días son
buenos para mí. ¡Este anciano es mucho más
sabio que yo!, me dije a mí mismo. Acaba
de darme la definición de la voluntad
de Dios.»
Juan XXIII había escrito, el 10 de abril de
1903, casi palabra por palabra, esa misma
definición, la víspera de recibir el
subdiaconado: «Ya llueva,
ya haga sol o ya haga frío, ya sea alto o bajo el
superior, ya decida esto o aquello, lo acepto
todo gustoso. Sin una murmuración ni una
crítica, ni por fuera ni en mi corazón. En mis
labios, una sonrisa natural y sincera. Ni me
emborracha el éxito ni me
inquietan las tristezas de la vida».
Vocación de centro
La vanidad de Alejandro Dumas (padre) era tan enorme
y tan pueril, al mismo tiempo, que llegó a serle
perdonada, viéndola todos como algo consubstancial
con su persona y también por la gracia y la sencillez
con que la expresaba. Una vez le preguntaron qué tal
había comido en la casa de un ministro que le había
invitado: -Bien -contestó-. Pero sin mí, me hubiera
aburrido terriblemente. * * * * *
Hay gente que se cree indispensable, «el ombligo del
mundo». Les parece que si ellos no estuviesen, todo se
hundiría. Alguien ha dicho que los cementerios están
llenos de gente que se creía imprescindible. En realidad,
nadie somos imprescindibles. Y si hay alguna tarea
que nos parece que sólo nosotros sabemos hacer, es muy
bueno enseñar a otros a hacerla, para que puedan
sustituirnos. Hace falta: humildad para no
creernos imprescindibles y generosidad
para transmitir experiencia.
