Hobart meat saws Models 5216-0 and
5216-0-HS (twice the blade speed of
standard 5216) feature incomparable
ease of cleaning. All components which
require cleaning are easily removed
without the use of tools ... providing
access to smooth, crevice-free com­
partments.
The deluxe version of these saws can be
maintained in sanitary condition even in
environmental conditions conducive to
rust and corrosion. The entire base in­
cluding legs, column and carriage sup­
port, the movable carriage, stationary'
table and their understructures are
made of stainless steel.
Interchangeable upper and lower blade
pulleys have double flanges. This as­
sures the blade will not jump or be acci­
dently pulled off. Both pulleys can be
submerged in water for cleaning.

MOTOR: Model 5216-D equipped with 2 H.P., Model 5216-D-HS
equipped with 3 H.P. motor (3 phase only). Has grease-packed
ball bearings, ventilated, drip-proof type, protected by machine
enclosure. Available in standard electrical specifications as
shown below. Not available in D.C.
CAPACITY: Cutting clearance: 18Ve" high, 15"/16" wide.
STATIONARY CUTTING TABLE: Extra large, 21V4" x 383/4", heavy
stainless steel, angle-reinforced, and supported for heavy duty
use, provides extensive stacking space. One quick-acting clamp
locks table securely in place or releases table for cleaning.
MOVABLE CARRIAGE TABLE: Stainless steel, reinforced for
rigidity. Measures 17W' x 24". Shaped front edge facilitates
movement of carriage by operator's body. Six stainless steel ball
bearings, mounted on underside of carriage (two engage guide
on carriage support), assure stability and easy travel, even when
operator leans heavily against carriage. A carriage lock is pro­
vided as standard equipment.
GAUGE PLATE: 6314" x 16%" stainless steel face laminated to cast
aluminum. Vernier-type adjustment gives quick, positive regulation of
cut thickness with micrometer-fine precision. Easily disengaged for
major adjustment. Adjustable pin allows operator to return gauge
plate to original setting.
ELECTRICAL CONTROLS: "Pull to Start-Push to Stop" knob con­
veniently located at front of machine actuates switch controlling the
magnetic contactor which provides no voltage protection. For elec­
trical specifications above 250 volts, a control circuit transformer
provides control voltage of 120 volts (optional at extra cost on lower
voltages). 5216-D-HS is provided with thermal overload relays (one
for single phase, tri·block for three phase) which provide overload
protection (optional at extra cost on 5216-0). Special wiring and motor
starter enclosures option, to comply with California electrical safety
orders, available at extra cost.
DRIVE: Heavy-duty "V" belt.
SAW BLADE: o/e" Wide x 128" Long.
BLADE TENSION INDICATOR: Direct reading indicator, mounted
at left front of the head, easily visible to operator at eye level,
accurately registers blade tension. Handwheel positive-tension
control, at left of head beneath the direct-reading indicator, per­
mits back-against-the wall installations.
SAFETY FEATURES: All moving parts are enclosed, but readily
accessible. Blade is guarded above and below the cutting zone.
To eliminate the necessity of handling items close to blade, a
pusher plate is provided. Extended gauge plate protects
operator. Adjustable legs provide for leveling and secure place­
ment of machine.
BLADE GUIDES AND CLEANERS: The lower "lift-out" assembly
combines easily adjusted tungsten carbide blade back-up, stain­
less steel blade guide with tungsten carbide inserts, nylon pro­
tector, front blade and lower pulley cleaners. The upper guide and
guard assembly includes adjustable tungsten carbide blade
back-up, stainless steel blade guide with tungsten carbide in­ serts, and guard. A separate upper pulley cleaner is mounted in
the head. A lower rear assembly provides auxiliary blade
cleaners. All cleaner and guide assemblies are easily removed
without the use of tools.
FINISH: Working surface of table, gauge plate, carriage and blade
cover is polished stainless steel. Head, head door, and head cover
are all aluminum. Cabinet and understructure parts are stainless
steel.
OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT: Heavy duty front end with stain less steel
carriage, bearings, carriage support, tinned braces and heavy
duty switch rod and knob. Intermediate speed pulley on high
speed saw provides blade speed of 4700 FPM. Extra cost for
options.
STANDARD EQUIPMENT: One new hardened saw blade and
pusher plate for short ends.

PULLEYS: Interchangeable plated cast-iron upper and lower
blade pulleys are identical, both can be easily removed for clean­
ing. True-running blades are assured by precision machined pul­ leys with blade-retaining double flanges.
