Available in 3 sizes (1 in., 2 in. and 4 in. thick), FlameSafe Pillows are ideal for applications where frequent retrofitting of cables is expected. Estimating Guide (at 25% compression) Fill the circumference of the penetrating item (cable tray, etc.) with FSPIL1 and fill the remaining area with FSPIL2 and FSPIL4. Description Percentage of Opening Pillow Should Fill 6 in. (152 mm) Depth Approx. Coverage Square Inches (mm2) FSPIL4 70% (.70) 27 (17420) FSPIL2 15% (.15) 13.5 (8710) FSPIL1 15% (.15) 6.75 (4355) 1. Figure square inches (mm) of opening to be firestopped (W x H). (Approximations based on blank opening, subtract area occupied by penetrants from total area of opening.) 2. Using the chart above for each pillow size, multiply total square inches (mm) of opening by the percentage of opening each pillow size will fill. Next divide this sum by the square inch (mm) coverage given or each pillow size. Round all answers up to the nearest whole number. This number is the total number of each pillow size to order. 3. Example: 12 in. x 12 in. opening = 144 in.2 (305 mm x 305 mm opening = 93025 mm2) FSPIL4 144 in.2 x .70 = 101 in.2 (93025 mm2 x .70 = 65118 mm2) 101 in.2 ÷ 27 in.2 = 3.7 = 4 FSPIL4 (65118 mm2 ÷ 17420 mm2 = 3.7 = 4 FSPIL4) FSPIL2 144 in.2 x .15 = 22 in.2 (93025 mm2 x .15 = 13954 mm2) 22 in.2 ÷ 13.5 in.2 = 1.6 = 2 FSPIL2 (13954 mm2 ÷ 8710 mm2 = 1.6 = 2 FSPIL2) FSPIL1 144 in.2 x .15 = 22 in.2 (93025 mm2 x .15 = 13954 mm2) 22 in.2 ÷ 6.75 in.2 = 3.2 = 4 FSPIL1 (13954 mm2 ÷ 4355 mm2 = 3.2 = 4 FSPIL1) Therefore, four FSPIL4, two FSPIL2 and four FSPIL1 pillows are required. http://flamesafe.rectorseal.com For technical assistance call toll free at 800-231-3345 FlameSafe is a registered trademark o f Rectorseal RectorSeal makes the Limited Express Warranty that when the instructions for storage and handling of our products are followed we warrant our products to be free from defects.
