Whitney, DPT, PhD, NCS, ATC, FAPTA Course Description: The participant will: 1. Be exposed to new methods of diagnosis and management of the person with BPPV 2. Be able to practice some of the newer techniques utilized for interventions for persons living with BPPV 3. Be exposed to some of the unique attributes that persons presenting with concussion demonstrate and will begin to understand how to utilize vestibular rehabilitation to assist in their management 4. Be able to perform and understand the results of the cover/uncover test plus will understand how a tropia or phoria can affect patient management of the person with a concussion 5. Be able to “vote” with clicker technology about eye movements in order to improve differential diagnosis skills related to knowing when to treat and when to refer out 6. Whitney, DPT, PhD, NCS, ATC, FAPTA received her PhD in motor development/motor learning from the University of Pittsburgh and her professional physical therapy education from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Currently, she is a professor in physical therapy in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and an associate professor in the department of otolaryngology in the School of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh. She is the Program Director of the Centers for Rehab Services (CRS) Balance and Vestibular Rehabilitation Center at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Whitney is supported by an NIH grant from NIDCD to study the effect of vibrotactile feedback in persons with vestibular disorders.
