Introduction
The LED (Light Emitting Diode) was first introduced for mainstream use in the 1960’s and was
until recently, predominantly used purely as indicator lights in various pieces of equipment
and on control panels. In recent years modern manufacturing techniques has seen a massive
progression in LED technology allowing the manufacture of LED’s capable of achieving any
colour of light emitted. Due to the scale of manufacturing we have also seen massive cost
reductions, making LED lighting a viable cost effective option.
With the recent introduction of legislation that bans the production of inefficient lamps and
tubes and the spiraling cost of electricity, LED’s are fast becoming the new choice for energy
efficient light sources. The advantage in using LED’s as a light source is not only because they
are very efficient but also the average life expectancy is around 35,000 hours. This can make
large savings against traditional fittings on the reduction of re-lamping and maintenance costs.
Denmans have always embraced new technology but we will only ever stock products once
we believe they offer good value for money and they prove to be reliable. As with any new
products on the market, there are a lot of suppliers making wild claims on the output and life
expectancy of their products. The unscrupulous suppliers are over running the chips in their
products to improve the light output but in doing so lowering the life of the product by some
considerable margin. All the LED products within this brochure are from suppliers whom we
believe offer both value for money and also reliability. LED lighting is still very much in its infancy
and on a regular basis we are seeing new light fittings coming in to the market for different
uses and applications. Until very recently the only LED products regularly stocked were for
decorative or effect lighting only. We now have a wide range of LED products to provide you
with a real energy saving alternative to offer your customer whatever their requirements.
