The surface mounting call point comes complete with a back box onto which the call point
is mounted. There is provision for rear cable entry and using the provided template, cable

them a universal solution for all types of alarm and monitoring system.

Self Check Detectors

A self check detector constantly monitors its own circuitry to ensure that it is
working correctly. It also constantly checks the background smoke/heat readings to
ensure that the sensing devices are fully functioning.

If a self check detector should develop a fault, a failsafe alarm circuit triggers a fault
warning at the control panel, alerting the system user to the need for maintenance.
Because the fault activation technology is failsafe, even if a detector completely ceases to
function, a fault condition will still be raised at the control panel.

DETAILED SPECIFICATION:
All panels have a zone 1 non-latch facility to enable panel interlinking without "lock-up" occurring. The
class change input enables the alarm circuits to operate without panel indication and panel latching.
The cabinet back-box houses only the transformer, thus providing a virtually empty enclosure for first
fix installation. A steel gland plate, removable plastic grommets and ample space are designed to
assist with cable termination.

A slide-in insert is included for clear zone identification. The surface-mount electronics motherboard is
fitted and terminated after first fix installation.
Finally a terminal cover completes the panel installation. The 4, 8, 12 and 16 zone panels will
accommodate up to 3 repeater panels, which are connected by a shielded 2-core data cable where
the repeater panels are powered locally, or an additional 2-core may be run from the panel for power
(Max. 1 repeater may be powered from the panel).

Call Point

BFC Call Point (BFC/MCP)
The address of each call point is set at the commissioning stage by means of a sevensegment DIL switch. If an MCP is activated it interrupts the normal protocol to give a fast
response. The Base call point has 4 bytes of non-volatile memory available for the user in
the same way as Discovery detectors. The call point has the conventional alarm facility.
The Base manual call point has only one response mode. This is factory preset to 16.
With the resettable element, the need for replacement glass is negated as the unit may
be reset using the key provided. The test key is inserted into the front of the unit in order
to allow its use wherever it may be sited. The user can test the call point with the test key
or by depressing the element. Every call point comes with an LED for indication of Alarm.
There is no need to remove the front cover and the glass at installation; just one screw
fixes the whole unit together.

A general purpose electronic sounder for fire, security and industrial applications; the
Sounder is certified to EN54. With the TimeSaver base, connections are made to the
base during the initial wiring phase which results in faster and more reliable installation.
The sounder head twists and clicks into the base on commissioning, avoiding the wiring
and connection problems associated with traditional sounders. Deep base units have
weatherproof protection to IP65 and can be used in all locations both indoors and
outdoors.

Fire Protection - Bi-Wire Fire Panels
Bi-Wire systems are based on standard conventional system
technology, but in addition incorporate additional functionality to enable
the callpoints, detectors and the sounders for each separate zone to be
wired on a single common circuit.
This enables the control panel to use a single circuit per zone both for
detection and to power the sounders. Even though the panel continually
powers the sounders, control functionality incorporated within the
sounders enables them to only be activated in the event of a fire alarm
condition. By combining both the detection and the alarm annunciation
wiring into a single circuit, considerable savings in installation time and
cabling can be achieved. Although adding Bi-Wire technology to the
detectors and the sounders does slightly increase the equipment costs
this is normally more than offset by savings in installation cost.

Wireless Fire Alarm System (CW9000)
Using a new Cooper wireless protocol, CW9000 provides a fire detection system using
secure wireless connections between the field devices and the control panels. Based on
well proven components the sensors, sounders, beacons and callpoints give CW9000 a
highly reliable foundation into which the wireless technology has been integrated to
provide a fully featured analogue addressable fire detection and alarm system.

The CWD range of sensors are designed to comply with EN54 Part 5 & 7 and are based

SYSTEM FEATURES AND BENEFITS
Wireless technology offers unique advantages when compared to the installation of
wired detection and alarm systems:
Manual Callpoint:
CWC950 Manual Callpoints designed to comply with EN54 Part 11 and shares all the
features of the Cooper Addressable Callpoint on which they are based. In addition a
tamper switch is provided so that an alarm is transmitted to the CW9000 Control Panel if
the callpoint is dismantled or removed
CWC950 Features: Reassurance LED. Glass or plastic resettable element (both
provided). Tamper alarm. Concealed antennas.
Fast and simple installation: Requiring only limited cabling, installation time is
greatly reduced. CW9000 is ideally suited to situations where there are limited time
periods for work to be undertaken, such as in educational, healthcare and retail
establishments.
Reduced disruption: The lack of cables also means that there is little damage to
the fabric of the building, especially important in heritage sites or prestigious areas.
Apart from precious décor, the lack of invasion into the structure reduces mess and
the risk that dust and rubble will enter vital areas which is particularly important in
sterile and food preparation areas and other places where cleanliness is paramount.
Open Area Sounder & Beacon:
CWSB980 Sounder/Beacons are designed to comply with EN54 Part 3 and are based on
the Cooper AV unit providing a combined audible and visual alarm to suit applications
affected by the Disabilities Discrimination Act.
Features: 100db(a) Sounder. Integrated highly efficient LED beacon. Tamper alarm. 3
Volume settings. 4 Tones.
Flexibility: Changes to the configuration of a building and reconfiguration of the
system can be accommodated both quickly and simply, minimising down time and
essential for rapid refits. For temporary installations or situations such as small retail
outlets where occupation can change frequently the lack of cables means that an
optimum system configuration can be maintained without major system reworking.
Cost saving: As devices only have to be fixed to the building, there is no need to
run fire resistant cable, trunking, conduit or concealed cables, saving in both
materials and labour. The use of multifunction components, such as the integrated
AV sounder beacon means there are fewer points to install leading to further
economies in the installation process. The unique survey and commissioning tool
has been designed to allow these critical functions to be performed by a single
person, again saving effort on site and reducing cost. A further consideration is the
cost of the batteries used in the system, by standardising on easily available off the
shelf batteries, and ultra-low power consumption to extend operational life and
minimise system running costs.
Signal Booster:
If the initial radio survey shows that there are areas of a building where signal levels are
below that required for reliable operation, then CWB9500 Signal Boosters can be located
to provide the necessary improvement in signal strength.
Input/Output Units:
The Input / Output modules for the CW9000 system allow the transferring of signal
between CW9000 and other fire and non-fire systems.

Optical Heat Detectors
Optical smoke alarms use different technologies to Ionisation smoke alarms and respond
better to different fire scenarios. Optical smoke alarms respond much better to slow
smouldering fires such as those on soft furnishings like sofas and beds.
Ionisation Smoke Detectors
Ionisation Smoke Alarms contain a small sealed ionising source which causes a small
electrical current to flow through the air in the smoke chamber. Smoke particles entering
the chamber reduce the current, this is sensed by the electronics and when a pre-set
threshold level is reached the alarm will sound.
Heat Alarms
Aico's range of heat alarms are highly responsive to high temperatures and are designed
for kitchens and garages or other areas where there is a high chance of nuisance alarms
when using smoke alarms, benefits of heat alarms is that they decrease false alarms.
These alarms are suitable for use in areas where BS5839 comes into force. Heat alarm
must not be used on their own they should always be used in conjunction with a smoke
alarm.

different byproducts of fire, its response to all fire types (e.g. fast flaming, slow

Wire Free Door Release
(DORGARD Range)
Dorgard is a device designed to safely hold open a fire door and automatically release it
upon the sound of a fire alarm. When Dorgard is holding open a fire door it listens for a
continuous fire alarm sound level of over 65 decibels. After approximately 14 seconds it
will release, allowing the fire door to close under the pressure of the overhead door
closure (not included). It can be used to hold the fire door open in any position. Works on
most floor types, but comes with a floor plate in case of difficulty. Unlike electro-magnetic
retainers (EMR), Dorgard requires no wiring as it is battery operated and self-contained.

This 4 position key switch is designed to test emergency lighting, it allows you to turn off
the power supplying the emergency lights to see if the lights are functioning correctly. The
4 positions on the key switch allow you to test the circuits for a set period of time; 10
minutes, 1 hour or 3 hours depending on what test you wish to perform. Using this key
switch you remove the chance of the emergency light being left on or the batteries being
depleted. The unit will power up with the SUPPLY ON lamp illuminated - the supply will be
connected to the output. Turn and release the key switch to select the 10 minute test
interval. Turn and release again to select the next test interval - the supply will be
disconnected from the output for the duration of the test. To cancel a test, turn and
release the keyswitch until the SUPPLY ON lamp illuminates.
