31. UPON DOCUMENTED APPROVAL OF THE ARCHITECT, MOUNTING HEIGHTS MAY BE
ADJUSTED. LENGTH OF RECEPTACLES SHALL RUN VERTICALLY. DO NOT MOUNT OUTLETS
BACK TO BACK ON OPPOSITE SIDES OF PARTITIONS.
32. CONTRACTOR SHALL VISIT THE SITE OF THE PROPOSED WORK TO UNDERSTAND THE
COMPLEXITY, RESTRICTIONS, AND ALL THE REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK OF THESE

11. SUPPORTS, ANCHOR BOLTS, AND HANGERS FOR ALL EQUIPMENT SPECIFIED IN DIVISION 15 OR 23 SHALL CONFORM TO THE SPECIFICATIONS. MISCELLANEOUS STEEL
BRACING SUPPORTS AND REINFORCING STEEL NEEDED TO SUPPORT EQUIPMENT SPECIFIED IN DIVISION 15 OR 23 SHALL BE FURNISHED AS PART OF SCOPE OF WORK

C. DUCT DIMENSIONS ARE "FREE AREA" AND SHALL NOT BE REDUCED. ALL SUPPLY AIR RECTANGULAR, ROUND, AND OVAL
DUCT SHALL BE WRAPPED EXTERNALLY WITH 1-1/2" THICK FLEXIBLE FIBERGLASS INSULATION IN CONCEALED

DESIGN PARAMETERS AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THE OWNER.
B. TEST AND BALANCE THE AIR DISTRIBUTION WITHIN 5% OF THE DESIGN. TEST AND BALANCE THE WATER SYSTEM TO
WITHIN 5% OF THE DESIGN.

IT IS THE BALANCING CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY UPON FINDING ANY DEFICIENCIES IN THE SYSTEM DUCTWORK

THE ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS.
1.3 SHOP DRAWINGS
A. SUBMIT FIVE (5) COPIES OR ELECTRONIC FORMAT ON ALL EQUIPMENT FURNISHED UNDER THIS CONTRACT.
B. ANY PRODUCT MANUFACTURER LISTED ON THE DRAWINGS OR IN THE PROJECT MANUAL AS A PRE-APPROVED EQUAL MUST BE SUBMITTED TO
ENGINEER FOR APPROVAL NOT LESS THAN SEVEN DAYS PRIOR TO BID DATE.
C. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUPPLY THREE COPIES OF OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE MANUALS (O&M), AND ONE COPY OF AS-BUILT DRAWINGS
WHEN THE JOB IS COMPLETED. O&M MANUALS SHALL INCLUDE EQUIPMENT CUTS AND WIRING DIAGRAMS.
1.4 CUTTING AND PATCHING
A. THIS CONTRACTOR SHALL CUT AND PATCH ALL HOLES IN THE INTERIOR PARTITIONS AND CEILINGS AS REQUIRED FOR THE INSTALLATION OF HIS
WORK. G.C. SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CUTTING NEW OPENINGS IN OUTSIDE WALLS, FLOORS, AND FOR PATCHING ALL OPENINGS RESULTED BY
MECHANICAL SCOPE OF WORK, EXCEPT PATCHING FIRE RATED PENETRATIONS. PATCHING SHALL MATCH EXISTING AREAS AND SHALL BE DONE BY
WORKMEN SKILLED IN THE APPROPRIATE TRADE.
B. PROVIDE ASBESTOS FREE SMOKE AND FIRE TIGHT SEALS FOR ANY OPENING THROUGH FIRE RATED WALLS, FLOORS, CHASES OR CEILINGS USED AS
PASSAGE FOR MECHANICAL COMPONENTS SUCH AS PIPING, CONDUIT OR DUCTWORK.
C. INSTALL HANGERS, SUPPORTS, CLAMPS AND ATTACHMENTS TO SUPPORT PIPING PROPERLY FROM BUILDING STRUCTURE; COMPLY WITH MSS SP-69.
ARRANGE FOR GROUPING OF PARALLEL RUNS OF HORIZONTAL PIPING TO BE SUPPORTED TOGETHER ON TRAPEZE HANGERS WHERE POSSIBLE. ALL
PIPING HANGERS AND SUPPORTS SHALL BE UL OR FM APPROVED. CONTRACTOR SHALL USE GALVANIZED OR PAINTED UNISTRUTS FOR PIPING
SUPPORTS. THE USE OF NON-PAINTED BLACK STEEL PIPING SUPPORTS SHALL NOT BE ALLOWED. ALL COPPER PIPING SHALL BE SUPPORTED WITH
COPPER COATED OR ISOLATED HANGERS.
D. ALL SEWER PIPING SHALL BE SUPPORTED NOT LESS THAN 5'-0" APART IN CONFORMANCE TO LOCAL CODE COMPLIANCE.
2.3 PIPE INSULATION
A. INSTALL INSULATION PRODUCTS ON SPECIFIED PIPING IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURER'S WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS, AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH
RECOGNIZED INDUSTRY PRACTICES, TO INSURE THAT THE INSULATION SERVES ITS INTENDED PURPOSE. FOR ALL PIPING INSULATION, A
CONTINUOUS VAPOR RETARDER MUST BE MAINTAINED. THE INSULATION SHALL BE APPLIED WITH A CONTINUOUS, UNBROKEN MOISTURE AND
VAPOR SEAL. ALL INSULATION JOINTS, SEAMS, FITTINGS AND PENETRATION LOCATIONS (I.E. P/T PORTS, VALVE STEMS, HEAT TRACE WIRING, ETC.)
SHALL BE PROPERLY SEALED. IF RIGID INSERTS ARE REQUIRED, BETWEEN PIPE AND INSULATION SHIELDS, THEY SHALL BE OF EQUAL THICKNESS TO
THE ADJACENT INSULATION AND SHALL BE VAPOR SEALED.
B. INSTALL PVC JACKETS OVER ALL EXTERIOR PIPING/INSULATION, INCLUDING OVER THE ELBOWS. PVC JACKETS SHALL BE SECURED AS PER THE
MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS. IF PVC TAPE IS USED, IT SHALL BE APPLIED ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS. ALL
JOINTS SHALL BE SEALED COMPLETELY ALONG THE LONGITUDINAL SEAMS, AND BE INSTALLED SO AS TO SHED WATER. ALL CIRCUMFERENTIAL
JOINTS SHALL BE SEALED BY USE OF PREFORMED BUTT STRIPS, A MINIMUM OF 2" WIDE, OR A MINIMUM 2" OVERLAP, AND SHALL BE COMPLETELY

1.7 COORDINATION OF WORK

BETWEEN ALL TRADES. THERE WILL BE NO EXTRA COSTS ALLOWED FOR THE INABILITY OF THIS CONTRACTOR TO COORDINATE HIS WORK WITH

PARAMETERS. CLEARANCES ABOVE CEILINGS IN CERTAIN AREAS ARE LIMITED AND NECESSITATE DUCTWORK AND/OR PIPING ROUTINGS. WHERE
POSSIBLE, PIPING, DUCTWORK, AND EQUIPMENT SHALL BE INSTALLED AS INDICATED. CHANGES REQUIRED TO MEET ARCHITECTURAL AND
STRUCTURAL CONDITIONS ARE TO BE APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER. NEW PIPING, DUCTWORK, ETC. SHALL BE SUPPORTED FROM THE BUILDING
STRUCTURE ONLY, AND NOT FROM ANY NEW OR EXISTING EQUIPMENT, DUCTWORK, ETC.
D. INSTALL BALL VALVES AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS AND AT ALL WATER PIPING TERMINATIONS FOR FIXTURE CONNECTION. VALVES SHALL BE
RATED FOR 150 PSI STEAM WORKING PRESSURE, 600 PSI COLD WORKING PRESSURE, TWO-PIECE FULL PORT CONSTRUCTION, BRONZE BODY,
CHROME PLATED BRASS BALL, REPLACEABLE TEFLON SEALS AND SEATS, BLOW PROOF STEAM, AND VINYL COVERED STEEL HANDLE. VALVES SHALL
BE MANUFACTURED BY CONBRACO, NIBCO OR WATTS.
