University of New Haven Tagliatela College of Engineering Faculty Position in Mechanical Design, Search #14-121 The Department of Mechanical, Civil and Environmental Engineering in the Tagliatela College of Engineering (TCoE) at the University of New Haven invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in mechanical engineering with emphasis on the area of mechanical design at the Assistant or Associate Professor levels. The expected starting date is September 1, 2015. Required qualifications: Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering; a minimum of 3 years industrial experience related to mechanical design; experience teaching mechanical design and record of scholarly publications commensurate with rank; demonstrated academic leadership reflecting a commitment to shared governance; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to work as a contributing and collegial member of a team; experience using contemporary engineering tools in mechanical engineering design; and authorization to work in the U.S. Primary responsibilities: Teaching undergraduate and graduate mechanical engineering design courses and supervising design projects; taking a leadership role in coordinating the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering program; seeking grants and conducting research appropriate for the rank; collaborating with colleagues in the department and/or college; and maintaining strong ties with industry. The Department of Mechanical, Civil and Environmental Engineering comprises 16 full time faculty, including 7 in mechanical engineering. In addition to teaching, faculty are involved in disciplinary, interdisciplinary and engineering education scholarly activities, including mechatronics, renewable energy, and structural mechanics. BSME and MSME degree programs are offered which enroll over 200 undergraduate and 40 graduate full time mechanical engineering students, respectively.
