Key Stage 3 Curriculum by Year Group
At Key Stage 3, pupils study a broad and balanced core curriculum. In year 9 pupils are
offered ‘Early options’ where they select two creative subjects.
A tutorial program is followed on a weekly basis within tutor groups. Additional PE/Sport is
offered after school through the ‘Move it’ program.

Key Stage 4 Curriculum by Year Group
At Key Stage 4, all pupils study a core curriculum alongside their option choices that are decided on
the basis of their progress at Key Stage 3 and their interests. The tutorial program continues on a
weekly basis within tutor groups.

Key Stage 5 Curriculum by Year Group
Year 12
All level 3 (A level / AS level / Btec) courses are allocated 9 hours of teaching per subject in the two
week timetable. All sixth form students have allocated hours of private study alongside an
enrichment / tutorial program of study that is a requirement in the sixth form.
Year 12 will normally study one subject from each column. All subjects are AS levels unless
otherwise indicated. The option columns are based on the ‘best fit’ to the choices made by
students on their initial application to the sixth form.

Btec Business and Btec Applied Science are double subject studied in two columns.
Year 13 will normally continue their studies from Year 12 in three subjects, although four
subjects is encouraged for the most able students.
