LM ADSORBER SYSTEMS
Two Stage Modular Adsorption System
Description
Specifications
The Calgon Carbon LM Adsorber Systems are designed for removal
of dissolved organic compounds from water or other liquids using
granular activated carbon. The two vessel system design allows
for flexibility in operation to meet the requirements of the treatment
application.
Adsorber vessel
The LM Adsorber Systems utilize the LM Carbon Adsorbers combined
with a modular piping assembly, utilizing 2” diameter PVC piping and
PVC ball valves to provide a complete two vessel adsorption system.
With a single connection to the inlet and outlet, the piping network
allows the two LM Adsorbers to operate in parallel or in series with
either adsorber in the lead, or first stage, position. The piping can
also isolate either adsorber from the process flow while maintaining
operation through the other adsorber. This permits either operation
using just a single adsorber, or allowing the second adsorber to have
carbon exchanged and then brought back on line either as the second
stage in a two stage operation, or as a parallel stage, without
interruption of service.
The LM Adsorber Systems can use any of the 3 sizes of the
LM Adsorbers, which are designed to contain 500, 1,000 or 2,000
pounds of granular activated carbon each, selecting the proper size
for either the flowrate or expected carbon usage. The LM Adsorber
Systems can typically treat up to 60 gpm using two adsorbers in
series, or up to 120 gpm with the adsorbers in parallel operation.

Features / Benefits
Ease of Installation: The LM Adsorber System can be delivered
completely assembled with the two adsorbers and piping network;
or can be provided as two adsorbers and the preassembled
piping system, requiring only minimal handling, field assembly, and
site connection.
Ready to Use: The LM Adsorbers can be delivered pre-loaded
with granular activated carbon to minimize startup time and
installation costs.
Flexibility of Operation: The piping network has two connections – one
for influent and one for effluent from the system – and the pipe and
valve network design provides for the various operating modes without
the need to switch piping. If needed, backwash provisions can be
added by teeing the backwash supply and discharge into the outlet
and inlet connections.
Documentation: The LM Adsorber System is provided with an
Engineering Drawing package and an Operation & Maintenance
Manual.

Calgon Carbon Systems and Services
The LM Adsorbers and Systems are designed for a variety of higher
pressure water or process liquid applications at low to moderate
flowrates. Calgon Carbon Corporation offers a wide range of carbon
adsorption systems and services for a range of water or liquid flow
rates and carbon usages to meet specific applications.
Calgon Carbon also provides additional services for support of water
treatment systems, including supply of virgin and reactivated grades
of granular activated carbon, or exchange of carbon in the treatment
system, including disposal or reactivation of the spent
activated carbon.

Safety Message
LM Adsorber System - Parallel Flow
Wet activated carbon preferentially removes oxygen from air. In closed
or partially closed containers and vessels, oxygen depletion may reach
hazardous levels. If workers are to enter a vessel containing carbon,
appropriate sampling and work procedures for potentially low oxygen
spaces should be followed, including all applicable federal and state
requirements. Please refer to the MSDS for all up to date product
safety information.
